Hi.

It is likely a faulty pressure switch detecting overfilling. If replacing the pressure switch does not fix the problem, then the control assembly must be replaced.

Parts and diagrams available here.

Water continuously drains and fills, and never gets particularly high

You will need to check you washer drain hose and make sure it is only inserted into your house drain pipe in the wall no deeper than 4-6 inches, alternately your house drain needs to be as high as the top of the washer lid. Be sure to secure your drain line from the washer to one of the water shut off fittings with a zip tie. LG drains and fills at same time.

This is caused by the " the flood" circuit at the bottom of the dishwasher that detects some water leak. Once this circuit detects any water on the bottom of the washer, it immediately switches the pump out circuit on. It consists of a polystyrene float coupled to a micro switch. You need to dry the bottom and then check for leaks (hose or hose clamp).

Sounds like siphoning. This can happen if your drain pipe is too low and you run the drain hose right into it, or if there isn't any kind of air gap between the drain hose and pipe. Usually it shows up when trying to fill for the rinse cycle - it drains as fast as it fills. Or it might not fill at all. Order a "siphon break kit". They're cheap and easy to install

Whirlpool washer - tub drains while it fills.

Your drain is to low. Make sure that the drain that your discharge hose is going into is at least as high as the washer. If not the water will drain out as fast as you can fill it.
