Question about Toshiba 42HL167 42 in. LCD Television
I have a Toshiba Regza 42RV530U. I tried connecting my Samsung TL225 digital camera via HDMI cable, but I get a message on the screen saying Unsupported Video Signal. I start with both the TV and camera off. I connect the camera to the TV. I turn the TV on, then I power on the camera. I can see the image from my video for a split second, the I get the error message. I mainly bought this camera because it shoots video in HD, but it doesn't work on my Toshiba for some reason. Any assistance would be helpful.

You have to configure yout laptop to output through the s-video (which does not carry sound, so you need to either use the laptop speakers for sound, or the line output (headphone jack) to the TV).
I don't know if all toshibas are the same, but with mine, if I hold Fn (near the windows key) and press F5, it will change the output, do it a few times until you see a picture on the TV, some settings make this your extended desktop, meaning you can drag a window from one screen to another.

Testimonial: "Very helpful and well stated information! Thank you."
SOURCE: Unsupported video signal
It is possible that Jewelquest changes the screen resolution to one that is not supported by the TV. I am not familiar with Jewelquest, but the typical reason for the unsupported message is a resolution outside of the supported range. The supported resolutions should be listed in the owner's manual. Check your resolution output from laptop it maybe set to high for the TV to handle, also go to the Display Properties and ensure that the second monitor out is enable. Good luck!!

In most cases the HDMI issues are the source itself. Try another item like a DVD player or BluRay player. If they work then its a compatibility issue. If they don't then the HDMI receiver board in the TV is bad. Please take a moment to rate my answer. Thanks...

First try installing the latest ATI video driver, to make sure the HDMI output is fully supported.
Did you set your TV to select the HDMI input? nothing shows?
