Question about PC Desktops

Hi. The audio sound failed on my Asus P4S800D mother board, so I installed an internal sound card, that solved the problem except that there is still no windows start up & shutdown all the usual warning sounds. I have tried everything I can think of, can you help. Regards Joe

Check if you have right driver installed for your card ,and your integrated (realtek)chipset on your mobo ,than if its ok than go to,>control panel>sounds and audio devices>audio ,and check if your sound card is as a default audio device in the sound playback section ,and if this is 5.1 or 7.1 card check if your speakers are plugged into the right connectors and check advanced options to set up what kind of speakers you have plugged

Sound card is not showing on device manager

ftp://ftp.us.dell.com/audio/R58182.EXE
Thats the link to your audio driver. Try installing that and see if it fixes your issue. If it doesn't, then the sound card on your motherboard may be defective, or the sound is turned off in the BIOS.

Sound Drive Problem in ASUS PSGC MX 1333

  1. Remove all previously installed Realtek drivers
  2. Reinstall the UAA driver (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/888111/en-us)
  3. Reboot
  4. Install the Realtek driver again
This is a very common issue with realtek drivers.

Sound card wont play root media files

Hi Hughdog
well, Biostar mobos are know for a lot issues, but depending too, on the OS, windows XP I presume, go on safe mode, and uninstall all audio drivers, and disable on the BIOS audio. then start the PC, and install the audio card. or if is a internal audio reenable again, redetec the drivers, and install them according to the CD and drivers. you should see the play device now and play music correctly.
good luck
