Making a sealed box would be the correct enclosure for that sub, http://cdn.cloudfiles.mosso.com/c128031/sc-image/7/1/4/3/7143ed32a19c9a357a99e344a440d7e8.jpg th that image has one way you can have it look like, the black plastic piece is a connector point that is drilled out then glued to the side or back of the box, the other way is up side down/ reversed http://www.billkatz.com/images/ces_pics/ces_subwoofers.jpg Any sealed enclosure will do, 8 inch are not that powerful so any enclosure.

12 inch sub(JBL) in box with a 500 watt pioneer amp, sounds good with some types of base. would you cut a port hole in speaker box?

riverray1969 it would help if I knew the exact model number of that JBL sub you are referring to. With that info I can provide exact specs.

Basically, you need to build/modify an sub enclosure that is suited for the sub, the music you mainly play, and vehicle tuning. Generally, sealed enclosures will provide tighter bass response and get decently loud. Some would argue that it will give you greater sound quality. A ported enclosure will give you a louder more booming sound. That depends also on where the port is tuned (ex. 32 hz, 36 hz, etc ). You need to make sure that the enclosure meets the sub's airspace requirement as well. A customized well made enclosure is just as important as the sub you put in it.

I am thinking about purchasing the Pyle Home PCB3BK bookshelf speakers. Before I purchase, I need to know how they are connected? I have a JVC CD player that I want to connect the speakers to.

Any search engine will lead you to details about the speakers.

They're passive mini cube speakers. Unless your unidentified CD player has amplifiers and connections for speakers you are missing the crucial middle piece. What were you going to do about bass?

How much air space is need for a sealed encloser

are you sharing the air space or building a divider to give each driver its own air space

these speakers or not made for low end bass these woofer are meant for mid bass high bass
  • 6.5'' High Power Subwoofer
  • Non-Press paper Cone
  • Specially Treated Foam Edge Suspension
  • 1.5'' High Temperature Aluminum Voice Coil
  • Magnet Weight: 40 Oz
  • Impedance: 4 Ohm
  • Fs: 80Hz, Qms: 4.05, Qes: 1.3, Qts: 1.2, SPL: 87(dB), Vas: 6.8(Cuft)
  • Mounting Depth: 3"
  • Rubber magnet Boot Cover fers are
  • there is only 3 " of mounting depth needed i would build you door pannel out fiberglass a door pod and mount them on the door if you have a factory speaker there . then run to the amp and turn the x-over on to high pass and them use them as a mid bass driver up front for the front sound stage for get about them as a subwoofer get the lanzar 10's or 12's

i mounted a set of ma audio 8" subs on my 03 s-10 door the speaker fit in the 6.5 location had to trime the door metal and space them out a little cause the 4.75 mounting depth.it worked and then i ran the them in 2 ohm stereo to my 4 channel amp and used the high pass crossover to run them as a mid bass driver works great for me . ma audio 500 watt dual 4 ohms 8" subs each i had 250watts to each sub.

you could build a small enclosure just big enough to fit the 6.5 woofer you could build a dual camber enclosure like 8wx5dx8h internale air space would be 0.18

15 wx5dx8h would give you 0.347 share the air space this is internal air space

Hi i have a 15"w3-d4 jl audio sub,can anyone tell me what size antype box i should use ie sealed or ported and the box dimensions

    Hi,
I've had a look at the JLaudio website and they recommend 2 box designs, a ported and a sealed.
The sealed box needs a volume of:
    2.125 ft3 or 60.2 litres.
To get this you would need to build the box to these dimensions:
    22" x 16" x 14.75" or 559mm x 406mm x 375mm
The ported box needs a volume of:
    3.50 ft3 or 99.1 litres.
To get this you would need to build the box to these dimensions:
    24" x 19" x 18" or 610mm x 483mm x 457mm.
    The port needs to be:
    3.0" x 10.9" or 76mm x 277mm.
The enclosure recommendations listed above are external dimensions which assume the use of 3/4" (19mm) thick material. If you are using 5/8" (16mm) thick material, subtract 1/4" (6.5mm) from each dimension. Do not use any material with a thickness of less than 5/8" (16mm) as this may compromise the rigidity of the enclosure.
    • All enclosure volumes listed above are net internal volumes! Driver displacement, port displacement and brace displacement must be added to obtain the final gross internal volume. All enclosure dimensions above have already taken this into acount.
    • When using two subwoofers in a common enclosure simply double the required volume and, in the case of a ported enclosure, use two times the recommended port(s). Likewise, when using three subwoofers in a common enclosure simply triple the required volume and, in the case of a ported enclosure, use three times the recommended port(s).
    • We recommend the use of this speaker in a bi-amplified system using high-quality satellite speakers and a high-quality amplifier. We do not recommend the use of this subwoofer with a passive crossover (coil), as this type of device will adversely affect performance.
As you can see it all depends on the space you have available, whilst the vented box will give you a more efficient bass responce especially with the low range frequencies.

If you to go and look at the information about your sub woofer and find out all the information about building or buying the correct enclosure then this is the link to the pdf file I found:
The enclosure info is on page 3:
JL AUDIO 15W3 Tech Specs and box info.
    Warm regards
    Mike

I need to know the demensions for 10 inch subs

almost any 10 will use .75 cubic feet up to 1.25 cu ft. thats about the size of a milk crate give or take. a sealed box will give you the cleanest tightest bass. A ported box will be louder but also larger at the cost of decreased power handling ability and sound quality. If your subs are designed for small enclosures use a sealed box around .75 to 1.00 cu ft.

Making boxes for 6 by 9 speakers

Easiest solution for this would be to buy a pair of enclosures that are already made, the same as you would a subwoofer enclosure. You can get them anywhere you'd look for stereo gear. I like to to run a bead of liquid nails construction adhesive around the inside were the panels join together. This works better than a regular caulk as it helps make the box stronger. If you really want to make them yourself then you'll need 5/8" medium density fiberboard, liquid nails, carpeting, terminal cups....and some patience to put it all together...

    Enclosure type

Sealed box and somewhat large if they are 12's I usually try to get 3 cubic feet overall internal dimensions and generally the inside dimensions will be 13" tall 32" wide and 13"-14" inches deep. with no divider and make sure the box is sealed. Personally I like to phase the speakers backwards. Gives the bass a little more rumble.
