Feeder problems with Pixma 9500

I just got a new Canon Pixma 9500. I installed it on Windows XP as this computer has all my photographs. I updated the drivers.

The installation went fine until I went to print out alignment sheets of test paper. Then the paper seem to 'jam' at the top, went crooked on me and I had to manually pull out the paper.

The problem seems to be the feeder scrolls down inside the printer since part of the paper goes one way and part doesnt.

I only used the top feeder, and aligned the sheets perfectly. I am bummed. this isnt a cheap printer.

a new printer needs to have its feed rollers cleaned? I think probably my best option is to return the product. (which I hate to do since I installed all the inks and the printer head)

I thought your readers might benefit from my problem and my resultant conversations with the tech folks at CANON.

Seems like the feeder tray has sensors. I thought they would be at the bottom to FEED (and grab) paper correctly, and yes, there are sensors at the bottom. But there are also feeder sensors adjacent to the slider (that hugs the width of the paper) AND IF this is a bit off skew, the paper will not feed correctly.

So the tech had me mess around (move back and forth) this slider and FINALLY the paper fed correctly thru and printed as it should.

Thanks for all your help. It is sad that I had to pay a ton of money for this printer (top of the line) and this silly gizmo (which isnt listed or mentioned in its troubleshooting page) caused me so much grief.

By having a certified technician do a cleaning on the feed rollers this should fix the problem.

Your answer sounds better than mine. Good luck returning your item. You can also contact Canon and have them send you a replacement if you have any problems.

Below is the only link I could find that looks to be good. If you have upgraded to Windows 10, I'm not sure if this will work for you. It does support up to Windows 7 though.

recalibrate the printhead, clean the printhead. In the printer driver you need to select the right paper.

I am having problems installing canon iP5200 with Windows 7

Did you upgrade the computer from Windows XP to Windows 7? If so, did you uninstall the driver before you did the upgrade? The old driver files may be causing the problem.

To fix, go to this link, and in the search box in the center of the screen type "windows 7" and click on the Search button. Then select the link "ERROR: Cannot communicate with the printer after upgrading to Windows 7". There will be step-by-step directions for resolving your problem.

Canon PIXMA Pro 9500. When I try to print a photograph it prints the first 10mm and then ejects the paper, the fault light flashes twice. All the test functions such as the nozzle check, head alignment and...

The photo paper is a little stiffer than bond, you usually just need to clean the feed roller with a damp rag to restore grip. When it ejects like that it usually means the paper is getting in too late due to slippage of the feed roller.
