Question about Mitsubishi WD-52631 52" Projection HDTV

STATUS LIGHT YELLOW, LAMP LIGHT GREEN: TV TURNS OFF.

I READ THE OWNER'S MANUAL AND WITH THE ABOVE STATUS IT SAYS ONLY THAT THE ROOM IS TOO HOT. WELL, THE ROOM IS THE BASEMENT AND IT IS QUIET COOL. WHEN THE TV IS FIRST TURNED ON, IT IMMEDIATELY GOES TO STATUS LIGHT YELLOW (SOLID) AND LAMP LIGHT (FLASHING GREEN) AND THE TV SAYS TO CHECK THE AIR FLOW. COINCIDENTALLY, THE FIRST TIME THIS OCCURED, I HAD JUST MOVE THE TV ABOUT 8 FEET TO A CORNER AND REPLACED THE SATELLITE CABLE THAT RUNS FROM THE WALL TO THE BOX.

The TV turns off, yellow light stays on, room is not hot. Where do I find the air flow filter?

  • iceman99 Jun 05, 2008

Mitsubishi DLP HDTV (WD-57731) shuts off. A measage reads " TV will shut down in a few seconds"? A message on the TV reads " TV will shut down in a few seconds, be sure air flow is not blocked". Which it is not. The status lights is solid yellow - that is not in the owners guide. TV is 1 year old.
I have the identical problem. What was the solution? Repair man insist that I need to replace my lamp at a cost of $250 plus labor $100 (includes house call.) I have my doubts that this is the problem.

I'm having the same problem. TV states to check the air flow. I took the back off and used a vacuume and it worked for about a week. I got the message back and this time I blew the unit out with an air hose then sucked out any additional dust. The problem was not fixed. Where is the filter? I don't see that I have one. Also, the fan is running when the tv is turned on and continues to run few about a minute after shut down. Any solutions yet?

Actually, I think I found the problem. I took the light out and cleaned the filter (screen) on the light cartridge. I turned the tv back on and it still gave me the message. As the tv was still on, I tapped on the fan that sends air directly to the light cartridge and the message went away. About 2 days later, I got the message back but went I shook the tv and tapped it on the stand a few times, it worked. I think that particular fan is going out and seems to be a problem with other tv's as well. Any ideas where I can buy a fan? Hope this helps you all out.

Have you checked the air filter located on the side of the unit? Also can you hear the fan start as soon as you plug the set in?

Mitsubishi lamp

Sometimes the same symptom can be caused by the lamp driver (ballast) failing. Also make sure the lamp door and filter door are fully closed. Unplug for 1 min to reboot. When it turns on, you will hear the fans (airflow sound) and then colorwheel spin up (high pitched) and finally the lamp will fire. If the lamp is bad, you will hear the spark gap make a buzz sound for 1 second.. it will retry a few times before shutting down

TV was working earlier, today came home no green power light no nothing

I looked up the manual online - after you replace the bulb, you need to reset the bulb life timer. Using the TV remote push the menu button, SETUP menu, select the lamp reminder option to reset the hours to zero. That might help the status indicators.

Mitsubishi DLP 51 inches. Yellow status light is flashing continuously and will not power up at all. Unpluged it for 24 hours buy no difference. What next?

You are Kidding right?

The only thing a flashing yellow light means on a Mitsi is the lamp access door is not installed. Read the manual and you will be fine.

Tv keeps turning off?

cutta, you will most often hear a click on boot then the fans start up and lamp will then fire. The picture will start to show up....at what point does it shut off? and do you hear a click when the tv is turning off? Is it the complete tv shutting down, fans and everything that turns off? Do you see any lights on the the front panel "POWER", "STATUS" or "LAMP", what are they doing? If you see a Power, Status or Lamp light after it shuts off the below are what they mean if there is an issue. POWER - STATUS - LAMP - CONDITION/ISSUE: Off - Yellow - Off - Temp. high/dirty filter/excess room temp Off - Off - Yellow - 4000 hrs. Lamp usage warning Off - Off - Blink Yellow - Lamp Cover open Off - Blink Yellow - Off - Air Filter Cover open Off - Off - Red - Lamp failure (failed to turn On or broken) Off - Blink Red - Off - Fan Has Stopped Off - Red - Off - Circuit failure (short) or DVI cable disconnected If you want to check for the last "Error Code", after you first turn the TV on, by pressing the front panel ?DEVICE? and ?MENU? buttons at the same time and holding them for 5 seconds, it activates the Error Code Mode. The ?Power LED Light? blinks/flashes (1/2 sec delay) and then flashes again denoting a two digit Error Code indicating no problem or an error has occured since the last Initalization. i.e. "Power light" blinks 3 times (1/2 second delay) and then blinks 4 times then 1 sec delay and repeats a few times. This would mean "Error 34 - Lamp abnormality". See below for error codes..... Error Code - Description or issue 12 - No Error detected, check Power Supply 32 - Lamp Cover is open 33 - Air Filter Cover is open 34 - Lamp abnormality 36 - Light Engine (DMD or LAMP Fan stopped) 37 - Exhaust or Lamp Ballast Fan stopped 38 - Lamp temperature high 39 - DMD temperature high 41 - Short is detected 44 - DVI cable between FMT & Engine disconnected. Sorry for the long answer but it was an open ended question.
