Amana refrigerator ice maker

You are on the right track since the solenoids control the amount of water reaching the ice maker and the water tap. Sometimes over a period of time the plunger or moving part of the solenoid just gets stuck and a good cleaning will restore it to proper operation.

Ice maker not making ice. no water being dispensed

If you have water entering the back of the refrigerator - check to make sure it is connected and turned on. The water is routed to a reservoir and chilling tubes. It then goes through a two line solenoid controlled valve - one to the ice maker and one to the water dispenser. Since you aren't making ice or getting water - I would suspect the two line solenoid controlled valve.

Water is not getting to the icemaker. however, it is dispensing at the glass tap

Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.

When your ice maker dumps and refills with water it will come out the water dispenser with the wires swapped. If it doesn't then I would have to blame it on the solenoid.

If the lines are the same size you can also swap them around to do this check.
Water inlet Valve

You can disconnect the line coming out of it and try the water dispenser to see if the valve is working. If it's getting power it should click when you try it and water come out.
The water inlet valve on the back of unit opens when the ice maker needs water. If the valve doesn't seal good because of sediment or wear it will continue to drip and when the water reaches the ice maker supply tube it will freeze blocking the fill tube.. You can take the water line off the valve and watch to see if it drips.

GE Side By Side Ice Machine & Water dispenser not getting water

you may have a pin hole in your water line to your dispenser or you could be leaking at the water valve itself on the water dispenser side. you'll have to pull the refrigerator out from the wall and look where the main water line goes into the back of the refrigerator. you will probably have to take the back off to see. be sure you put the back of the refrigerator back when you are through.

I have a Hotpoint HSS25GFTA WW Fridge that has side by side doors with ice/water dispenser in the freezer (L) door. I still get ice fine but my water dispenser has 'died'. The water has always come out tap...

Hello:
It is very common to have the line in the freezer door freeze up. I would start there first. If that's not it then next step would be your water valve which is located in the back/bottom of the fridge. It is a dual valve( one side for ice maker the other for water dispenser). you can check that by taking off the front kick plate and on the bottom freezer door hinge you will see the line entering the door. Follow it towards the under the fridge and you will find a coupling. Disconnect it and see if there is any water coming out when you press actuator on the door .. If yes then its frozen if no your valve is Kaput.

Cheers

Ice maker icing up

Sounds like you may have a couple of problems here. The frost build up could be from a bad door seal. Moist air can be drawn in and collect on the inside. As for the water temp, it sounds like the water line connected to the refrigerator could be tapped off a hot water line. It needs to be connected to a potible cold water line.

Maytag side by side, msd2456de will not make ice, I have water that dispenser works fine, I believe freezer is cold enough what could be the probem?

If water is not getting to the ice maker the fill ice maker with tap water. Wait until it freezes and dumps and then replace the dual water control valve on back near floor. Sea Breeze

Ice Maker not working

Get me the model number. Put tap water in ice maker tray and make sure arm is down. Let it freeze. Wait and see if the ice will drop, this should allow water to come into the ice maker for another run. Let me know, Thanks, Sea Breeze

I have a Whirlpool ED5GTGXN000 and the ice maker stopped working. Water dispenser is still working.

The refrigerator has a duel water valve, one for the ice-maker and one for the water dispenser. The valve that the ice-maker relies on may be bad, or it could be the ice-maker itself.
Another thing that could cause it would be the temperatures in the freezer. The ice-maker will not call for water until it reaches under 15 degrees. In addition, check the water tube behind the ice-maker to make sure it is not frozen, blocking more water from entering. The water does not go to the ice-maker or thru the filter unless the ice-maker turns on the water valve.
