Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

I have an HP Officejet Pro K550 series printer. Went to install a new HP compatible #88 jumbo black cartridge and now that it's in the printer, the light won't go out to signal the new cartridge is in. Therefore, it will not print even tho the ink has been replaced with a full one. HELP!

Hello welcome to Fixya, to solve the problem you are having with your printer you should remove the #88 jumbo black cartridge from the printer and carefully put it back in.Please make sure the cartridge is firmly fitted into the printer because if it does not fit correctly the printer will not print if you still have the problem please uninstall and reinstall the drivers for your printer. You can get the drivers from http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Lookup if you need to reinstall or update your printer.
Thank you

I have an hp officejet pro L7680 printer and am having trouble finding new 88xl cartridges for it. Will the 940xl cartridges work in this printer

Hi there,
You cannot install HP 940 Cartriges for Officejet Pro L7650 as they are not compatible and the mechanism is different for both the cartridges,
In your printer, the HP 88 fits on the left bottom corner of the printer and the HP 940 cartridges are mounted on the Printhead inside the printer on HP Officejet 6500 AIO.

I have a non HP cartridge in my K550 it will printe one copy and then ask for an authentic HP cartridge, I reset and will again get one copy and then the request for HP cartridge...How can I by-pass this...

Each printer require certain matched type of cartridge, if you use another type of cartridge it may broke the system or the printer itself. Instead of trying to skip this notification, I think it would be wiser if you change the cartridge with the original one. It may more expensive, but guaranteed compatible with the printer and the software.
If you resist use this non HP cartridge, try to re-install the driver with this cartridge attach in the printer.

Hope this help.

HP Officejet Pro K550 - Printhead Error Message on new printhead - cleaned printhead, contacts... tried all fixes... what now? Is it faulty?

I have the same problem. I replaced both printhead cartidges. The MC light stopped blinking, but the KY light kept blinking. I thought it was a faulty new KY ink cartridge. So I returned that cartridge and got a new one. Still the same issue. I called hp and they said the print head is bad now and all they focused on was trying to sell me a new printer. UG! I also heard wiping off the printhead with a dry cloth may help. Did you get yours to wokr?

Ink cartridge installed but cartridge light continues to blink

Have you only replaced the magenta cartridge, or have you also tried the print head. A bad print head can cause the ink to read as empty or clogged.

Hp officejet k550 wont print black ink

I guess you tried a new cartridge with the same problem.. so try to run the utility tools from the HP soft, you can download it here :
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=501369&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&submit.y=7&submit.x=11&lang=en&cc=us
It has also a "Solve a problem" section who might help you.
Then if the problem remain check the contacts in the printer, sometimes ink goes in, dry and stop the contact. Clean it with a hear tip and water (disconnect power and allow to dry before testing)...
Good luck and don't forget to rate.
Cheers
