Question about Samsung HCN436W 43" Rear Projection Television

2 Answers

Dropped picture Hi Adoph, I hope you can help. I have the above mentioned TV and the red of my picture has dropped. It just happened yesterday when I switched it on in the morning. It was fine when I switched it off the night before. I have taken a couple of pics so hopefully you can see. Is it fatal? Is there something I can do to fix it or will it need to go in for repair? Will it be expensive to put right? Thank you for any help you can give. Best wishes Richard

My tv got dropped when we moved it. now i have sound but no picture and the red light flashed 5 times. am I screwed?

Five continous blinks of standby light on Sony sets denotes the fault in its [AKB], Automatic Kin Bios circuit. During the fall there must have a break in the printed circuit board, especially on its LOT [Line Output Transformer] side. Just open the TV and check whether the printed circuit board have any cark or any other type of break, whic cause the circuits tracks to open circuted. The above said LOT is a bulky and heavy one, can cause break to that portion, if the fall is hard. Check it. As far as sound is good, its tuner, video IF and most of the other portions are Ok. Just keely check for this trouble I mentioned above. If you need further assistance, feel free to get me through Fixya. Ok.

My Nikon Coolpix L20 will only delete one picture, and then the screen says "please wait" It's been over 20 mintues, and just yesterday it worked. It hasn't been dropped or anything.

This might be a file error on the memory card.
This happens sometimes.
Save what you can from the card then format it in the camera a few times.

Hope this helps.

Sony 52" Bravia LCD will drop picture and sound for 1-2 seconds

the only thing that i can think of is that the cables and connections are bad but if that is not the case it may be the internal components of the tv. my guess is that the tv was dropped or jumbled around while transported and what happened was internal components were broken or just mixed up so go to the retailer and get a refund or a new tv. hope this helps

Dropped camera - lost pictures

I dropped mine yesterday and have the same issue. I figured that it must have caused something internal to shift so, I know this sounds crazy, I just gently dropped it on my desk, and it actually fixed it's self and works. This camera has been dropped from top of fridge and tv and is still in tact, to my surprise. Proceed at your own risk if you're thinking about doing what I just did, but it worked.

Flash symbol & green circle next to it...

Hi groovychica.
I like that name.
Dropping the camera is the the number 1 reason for digital camera failure due to the delicate lens assembly's.
Unfortunately it will probably cost you more to fix, than replace.
You can check this site for a repair shop that will give you a repair quote, but you won't like it, sorry.

Do not buy a used camera on eBay as it may have been dropped also.( new is OK) It happened to me
Try Pricewatch or Amazon, I have purchased a few from both sites and found some very good deals for my friends. You can also check the Olympus online store, They often have some awsome prices on clearance models.

The good news is that the prices on the Olympus FE series
has dropped ( no pun intended ) considerably, especially last years models, like yours.
I wish I could have been more helpfull.
Best regards Paul

No Red- Intermittent

A short answer, YES. I suspect a cold solder on the red drive transistor. That transistor is one of 3 identical components (one for each of the blue & green). They are normally found in a small squarish PCB that is connected to the rearend of the picture tube. In some instances, they are also heatsinked. More often you need to remove the shield/screen protecting the foil side of the PCB. This has to be done gently since it can easily crack the glass holding the pins.

Cold Solders are corrected by applying heat from a soldering iron and probably a dab of solder lead. Solder joints should be shiny (not dull gray) with no air bubbles.

If your concern has not been corrected after completion of the above procedures, you may need to replace the red drive transistor. it might also be worth your while to check for any other component that may suffer from cold solder and/or any loose connection(s).

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FIXYA.
