How do I connect a universal Dayton Barrel Switch (model # 2X440A) to a Smithy Lathe Mill Drill? Need two wires input and four wire output. Bought the Dayton switch and am trying to attach it to my Lathe. I have 6 wires and need to know the connections for the wires. I am uncertain about disconecting the two wires not in use. A picture would be nice!

How is the key barrel removed on a 1999 Triumph Sprint Tour 955? Are there any special conditions for the removal?

key barrels have nothing to do with the switch and wires. The key barrel just allows the switch to be turned ( removing the barrel and using a screw driver to turn the switch is the same thing) The switch itself will include a steering lock so it may be necessary to remove (drill out ) the clamp bolts around the steering column
Check the wires to the switch and all connections . Using a multimeter with a sharp point to penetrate the insulation ,you can check the switch operation without pulling the switch out.

I have a Dayton Drill Press Model # 3Z326.I need to attach the wires in the motor to the wires on the 110 wall plug but I do not know which ones go where.Help !

Do not try and reuse any of the damaged electrical. I buy a short extension cord of the appropriate gauge at HD and wire it to the switch and motor. Only disconnect one wire at a time .
Black is hot the screw color is brass, white is neutral and the screw color is shiny or chrome green is ground, it will be the plug prong that is at bottom of plug.

This is a difficult question. There are Euro, American and Chinese motors used, the most common is the chinese one phase motor at 110 volts. This is again complicated by the fact the chinese changed the hookups between 1999 and present models. In 1999 the Grizzly type clones from China had a six screw terminal block with the supply wires being: BLUE, BROWN, BROWN, BLACK, GREEN/YELLOW. with U1=BLUE, V1=BRN, Z1=nil, Z2=BRN, U2=BLK, V2=nil and you could reverse the direction of rotation by reversing the two brown wires on V1 and Z2. The new chineese wiring has made some changes to this and can be viewed on the details of any eBay site selling new Grizzly metal lathes of the 12X36 size of which they make about 9 varieties, keep reviewing each one, there are about two ads that give actual pictures of the new terminal blocks they use which have two flat bar jumpers right in the block and they use different terminals within the six on the motor.
My example is for a 1999 Chineese electric motor for the AT-400 Lathe/Drill/Mill which uses a generic
WANNAN 1 phase electric motor 3/4 HP, 1700 rpm, 11.0 Amps, 110 Volts, Date 99/7
American and Euro wiring tends to have other colors like white, orange, etc. and up to twelve of them so you have to research the exact motor, where it was made, and what date to get the right info. then you have to draw diagrams to match your switch wire hookup to the plate which is on the motor just beside the terminal block. Mine had two reversing switches and two motors plus another switch which selected between power to the mill or power to the lathe. Using the above color codes it worked right the first time only because I researched and then charted out every wire and did continuity testing to ensure functionality without worn-through or loose contacts. Also, unplug the machine and leave unplugged overnight before touching the wires as the capacitors carry a big charge at high voltage and hold it a long time.

My dayton NG heater fan will not shut off properly

Sounds like a bad fan switch. The switch is located on the heat exchanger and is 110 volt bi-metal switch. Follow the wires from the blower going back to the heatexchanger. Graingers can get you a new switch if you give them your model number. www.grainger.com.

I just had directv hooked up, I have a dvr receiver, I was told I did not have enough hook ups on the back of my tv, so therefore, I went and bought a switch or combiner. Now, how do I need to run the...

Newer directv hd receivers must connect to the av input (yellow, red, white) connections on the back/front/side of your tv. If your tv only has one of these av inputs then you will need an RF modulator for your dvd player. You will connect the (yellow, red, white) connections from the dvd player to the rf modulator and then connect the tv out on the rf modulator to the tv rf jack ( the silver threaded barrel on the back of the tv) Tune your tv to channel 3 to watch a dvd and then back to the av input channel for the directv receiver.
