Enter your user name. If you didn't change the user name during installation, enter admin in theUser Name field. [Show Me]
Enter the password you entered during installation and click OK. Additional characters will appear to be inserted as you enter your password. This is designed to hide the number of characters in your password.
Note: If you didn't change the default password when you set up your router, it may have been changed to your router's serial number to provide greater security. You can find your router's serial number on a label affixed to the bottom or back of your router.
The default password of the router is admin. If you have set up a
password before, it will not recognize the default admin.Hold the reset
button (at the back) of the router for 10secs and it will retrieve the default
admin...To change the default password, lauch internet explorer(pc
should be connected to the router hardwired), type on the address bar,
192.168.1.1--it willl prompt for a username and password, leave username
blank and password will be admin...It willl bring you to the set up
page of the router..click on the administration tab and from there you
can create your new password for your router.
if you have changed the password from the default, you must reset the router. then you can use the default password. if you have not changed the password, and simply dont remember the default log on is: username: (keep blank) password: admin (all lowercase)
In order to get your router back to the original settings, you must push
in the reset button (usually on the back of the router) for somewhere
between 10 and 30 seconds depending on the router. You may need a pin or
something small to push in the button, because it can be recessed. Once
you have reset the router, the username and password will be changed to
the defaults, admin and password, respectively. One thing you must
remember is that resetting the router will change all of the router
settings back to the factory settings. This means you will lose all of
the changes you made since you got the router. Make sure to write down
any things you've changed, so you can change them back after the reset.
Also, I recommend updating to the latest firmware after the reset.
There a great article at General Router Setup. If you need more help post back! Thumbs and testimonial are welcome!
The easiest method of resetting your Linksys router’s password is to reset your router back to the default factory settings. This is done by simply holding down the reset button located on the back of the unit for at least 30 seconds. Once the router has been reset, it must be reconfigured. Using your web browser go to URL address http://192.168.1.1. You will then be prompted to login to your router. A log-in screen asking for the password will automatically appear. At this time enter the default password “admin”, in lower case letters into the password field. The username field may be left blank at this time. (Note: both the default username and default password are set to “admin” on some of the newer Linksys router models).
if it is a default password it sould be either Admin or Password. if you have changed it and dont remember the password, you may have to note down the internet settings and then reset the router to bring the password back to the default. then setup the internet connection again.
Depending on the type of router, there you be a factory reset button on the back of the eqpt that you can insert something about the size of a paperclip into for about 10 seconds while the power is on.
NOTE: Once this is done, you will lose all configuration and passwords on the router. After that, you can refer to the manual for the default password on your router. Some routers have default passwords and others you can leave blank.
Hope this helps. Please remember to rate this information.
