Even though the iPhone
is a device that is extremely convenient to have, it still can cause
frustrations. Specifically, there may be times when the touch screen
does not work properly.
There are various problems the iPhone
touch screen could encounter. Although there are times when the screen
does not work altogether, there are other situations when certain
portions of the screen work and others don't. Of course, it is possible
that the entire screen works, but is simply slow. Regardless of the
exact problem, there are ways to troubleshoot the iPhone to diagnose
the real problem.
the wiping cloth that came in the small black envelope along with the
iPhone. Wipe the smudges or dust off the screen with this cloth. It is
best to wipe in a circular motion.
not put lotion on your hands and do not touch the screen if your hands
are wet. Any kind of moisture can affect the way the touchscreen
operates. Moisture sometimes slows the response time from the screen to
the operating system.
for a protective sheet on the screen. If there is some kind of a film
or sheet on the touchscreen, the screen is likely not able to react to
all of the sensitivities of the touch of a finger as it normally would.
there is an application open and the touchscreen seems to not be
working, simply close the application and retry it. A frozen
application can usually be closed by pressing and holding on the
circular button located just below the touchscreen.
and hold the home button as well as the reset button on the top of the
phone to turn the iPhone off. A red slider will appear. Slide it to the
right to turn the phone off. Press again on the "Reset" button on the
top to turn the phone back on.
reset the iPhone by holding the "Home" button and the "Reset" button
for a full 10 seconds until the phone resets and the Apple logo appears
on the phone.
If you are using the iPhone in cold
weather and wearing gloves, the iPhone will not react to the gloves as
it will to the touch of a finger.
the touchscreen is dirty, do not run the iPhone under water. Doing this
will likely ruin the phone, but even if it doesn't, it will possibly
make the phone run slower.
Perform the under given steps to troubleshoot the issue:
(i) Clean the iPhone screen with the cleaning cloth that came in the box with the iPhone.
(ii) If you have a protective plastic sheet or film on the touchscreen, try
removing it because it may be preventing the touchscreen from working
(iii) The current application may not be responding (frozen), press and hold
the Home button below the screen for at least 30 seconds, until the
application you were using quits.
(iv) If that doesn't work, turn the iPhone off and turn it on again. Press
and hold the Sleep/Wake button on the top of the iPhone for 30 seconds
until a red slider appears, and then slide the slider. Then press and
hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
(v) If the iPhone did not turn off, reset the iPhone. Press and hold the
Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for a least 30
seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If the issue persists then service will be required.
This is what you should do:
Press and hold both the power and the home button until the Apple logo comes up. Release the buttons at that point.
That way, you will force restart your device and it should respond to your touch.

Solution i tried on Unlocked 1.1.3 and 1.1.4 versions. Just follow the steps they have been explained really easy way. Dont think this is too hard. Just follow them it will work:
1) download WinSCP on your PC (google it) and run the application
2) download new general.plist file on laptop
3) download OpenSSH on your iphone (its not show on iphone but its there so dont worry)
4) connect the laptop and iphone through the same wireless network and both will have separate ipaddress.
5) write the ipaddress from the iphone (Settings>Wifi>network details to which you are connected to shows you the ipaddress)
6) Goto laptop on WinSCP type the ipaddress of the iphone in host name field and username:root and password: alpine and then hit Login.
7) it will open like an explorer view of your iphone files on laptop then click on root left side. Click Applications> preferences> replace the general.plist file with the one you downloaded. Done the major part.
8) unplug iphone click Settings> General>Touch and reduce the senstivity to 0. 0 gives you the highest touch sensitivity.
9) Now be happy it works....
