Question about GE WBSE3120B Top Load Washer
I have a wbse3120b top load ge washer i bought in 2003. I had this problem 2 yrs ago... The washer fills, but won't empty, agitate, or spin. When this happened once before, I let the hose down to drain and got so frustrated, i smacked the lid of the washer and it worked instantly! This time, I had to take the front panel off. I lightly jerked the wires attached to the lid switch, pump, and motor, then i heard the click of the switch, and the water pumped out instantly. I jerked it again and it stopped. Jerked a 3rd time, the switch activated the pump emptying all the water. Then switch deactivated again on it's own and hasn't turned on since, no matter how i jerked. I can hear electrical humming and the circuit board is fine. Is it the switch or something else? By the way, we do just let the lid slam a lot. Please help...
I would try the lid switch, part 388 on this diagram and parts list. You can check to see if this is the problem by taking the old one off and tape the two wires together and see if it will work. Using it without the lid switch creates a safety hazard. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=229918&diagram_id=21464425#d21464425
