My Jenn-Air Self-Cleaning Convection Wall Ovens w/Electronic Controls ( WW2780) installed new in 1995 give an F-1 fault code for both ovens. The clock and the interior light have power, but the ovens will not heat at all. Paul Lyons pjlyons5@hotmail.com

When I push the pad for bake, and dial the heat for 350, the readout says preheat starting at 140 and on, but in a few seconds the readout screen goes blank and there is no heat.

My Jenn-Air Self-Cleaning Convection Double Wall Ovens w/Electronic Controls (WW2780) installed new in 1995 give an F-1 fault code for both ovens. The clock and the interior light have power, but the oven will not heat at all. When I touch the "bake" pad, the screen lights and shows "preheat 140" and I dial the desired heat to 350. The screen then says "on' but goes blank without heating in a few seconds.

I felt the heating element, and it was warm, so power did go to it for a few seconds.

F-1 error code is occurred in Jenn-air convection wall oven due to two possibilities 1) The fault in ERC. 2) The fault in control panel. In user manual of (WW2780) IT SAYS F1 error code - bad ERC/clock or control panel.
In your question comment you have mentioned that clock has power so the problem is mostly with the control panel which has to be checked.

Dear pjlyons,
F1 code for Jenn Air is related to the main electronic control board. If you can turn your breaker off for a few minutes then back on it may reset. If not you will most likely need a new control board. Depending on your model number and age there may be extended warranty on the parts, check with Jenn Air to be sure

Hi,

Your symptoms are a strong indication Magnetron failure. This is the principal heating device, that is used to produce microwaves that , essentially, excite the water molecules in the food, thus, producing the heating effect. When this device fails, generally, the unit will run, but not heat. This device is very fragile, and can injure you if you are not qualified to handle this type of component. There is a High Voltage Capacitor, that is used to help provide the necessary current for optimal Magnetron operation. This capacitor must be discharged correctly. If not, you could risk serious injury, during the repair, if it is accidental touched.

The Magnetron is linked to a cut-off fuse. If the magnetron becomes unstable, this fuse will shut the device down. It is standard procedure to have this fuse test for continuity. If the fuse has blown, this will be the culprit. Replace the fuse. Now, if the fuse continues to show continuity, this will confirm that the Magnetron has failed. I would advise to inspect the Capacitor, and HV diode for visible burn marks, or swollen top(Cap).

Access can be ac hived to these parts by removing the outside cabinet screws. Once the screws are removed, the cover can be removed, as well. Once the cover is removed, the internal components will be exposed for testing, and visual inspections.

WARNING: IF YOU ARE NOT A QUALIFIED SERVICE TECH, THIS WILL NOT BE A NOVICE DO IT YOURSELF JOB. MICROWAVES ARE VERY DANGEROUS, AND CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY. I RECOMMEND TO CALL FOR SERVICE, IF YOU ARE UNCOMFORTABLE WITH HANDLING THE CAPACITOR, OR MAGNETRON.

Please post your feedback and Vote if the problem resolved as per your satisfaction.

If you haven't moved the ovens, it's the keypad controller. i would check the cables and make sure they havent come loose. But with a 15 year old oven it's entirelly possible that you need a controller. Sorry it wasn't better news

I would also disconnect the cable after unplugging the unit and re plug it in and see if it resets.

This is a general answer and not specific. The oven thinks is still in the cleaning mode. If it has one, push the clean button again. Set the oven to a regular bake cycle.

Can't open oven door after cleaning

This is a really common problem with a lot of the newer ovens. I don't know the exact model you have, but most Jenn Airs latch code errors is F9. Here are basic steps to reset any model:

1) You might have the oven scheduled for cleaning. If so, clear that.
2)You also might have a child safety lock that was put on by accident. If that doesn't work, try to reset the oven cleaner for a minute or two and have it shut off so that it resets.
3) If none of the above works, go to your breaker box and shut the power off. Give it a minute and flip the power back on. It should reset the electronics.

On some models with the electronic controls right above the ovens, the self clean ovens get so hot that it sometimes damages the electronic power relay box that is behind the clock. I hope this works for you. If not, leave comments and I will go through how to check the electronics with a voltage tester.

Jenn-Air w156 Single Wall Oven Problem

Most likely its the EOC (electronic oven control), it needs to be replaced. If you self cleaned the oven a lot the very high heat generated fatigues computers in modern ovens.
