Yes. As long as the unit is not running. Blocking the airflow while it is running can cause it to freeze up.

Room gets humid when dryer is on

Someway, somehow, the hot moist air is escaping into your room.
Is the vent hose hooked up, or has it fallen off?
Is the outside vent plugged up?
Play detective and see what you find.
Be blessed.

Hi there, I have a LG ac through wall/window unit LWHD1200FR 11,500 BTU. It's have a Open vent/Close vent mechanism by the front louver from where the cool air comes out. I would like to know what...

The OPEN is to be used when the air temperature is cool enough, not to have to use the AC. When it's open, the fan continues to operate and pulls cool air in from the outside and circulates it inside the room. Generally, this is only used at night, when temperatures are milder and there's less humidity. When it's CLOSED, the AC is in cooling mode and only the inside air is used to cool and is exhausted as needed. Hot, humid days & nights are when it should remain closed.

I hope this helped you & thanks for choosing FixYa.

I have an older a/c in my window in my bedroom, the past two days its been extremely humid outside and i have noticed white air or steam coming out of the vent? It seems to be running fine, its been used...

My thought is that your situation is humidity related. If anything were wrong with the A/C process, the unit would stop cooling....Remember, that the process of air conditioning (cooling) removes some moisture from the air...So it is unlikely you have an issue......

I currently live in the midwest and today has been an extremely humid day (90 degrees+ and 84%+ humidity). I used our LG gas dryer (Model # DLG2241W) earlier this weekend and it worked fine. Tonight, when...

Water in the drum anytime after drying a load of clothes is not normal.

Was the load prior to you having found the condensation fully dried? If not, check for lint in the vent system and make sure that air is coming out of the vent (the flap or louvers on the vent cap should open fully on a short vent line). Even so, this would not account for a small amount of standing water in the drum.

The first thing that came to mind was outside air being drawn in through the vent. If you have air conditioning and a well-sealed house, the warm, moist air hitting the cool drum (in a relatively dry atmosphere) may cause condensation. Check the outside vent to ensure that the vent cap flap (or louvers) is (are) closing all the way. Convection or air flow from the basement to a vent fan in an upper level might cause this.

Please let me know if I can help further.

The black pull out or push in button for vent should it be opened or closed while using the air conditioner unit?

Here are some factors you can consider, when YOU DECIDE:
1.) Do you need fresh air in?-- (Like venting hot, or bad smelling air?)
Then open the vent for a few minutes--

2.) Is it hot and muggy outside?-
Then yo will be bringing in that muggy air--
OK for a few minutes, to freshen up things- but not for long term--
(For the humidity from outside, is going to overload your cooling capacity quicker.)

3.) As time goes by-- you are lowering the humidity inside the room--- Opening the vent will raise the humidity inside.

Does that help?

If you are using this inside your home with central air running do you have to vent it to an outside window?

Yes, it must be vented to the outside, even if you're using central AC, too. The reason being is if you don't vent it to the outside, the hot air and humidity that normally goes thru the duct and out the window, will stay in the house and your Central AC will have to run longer and harder to overcome this rise in heat and humidity. In addition, the room that the portable AC is in, will get extremely hot & humid.

Hope this helped you. Please let me know. Thanks.

There is moisture coming out of the AC vents on my daughters 2006 s40, usually during very hot weather and not until the car has been driven for several miles

The drain on the evaporator is stopped up,look for it directly bellow the ac lines ,where they go into the car, under the hood,it will be on the bottom of the blower box,use air pressure to blow into the drain to clear it out.

Emerson quiet kool wall air conditioner. Should vent be open to remove humidity?

No - opening the vent will allow unconditioned outside air into the space and add to the humidity load.

Think of it like your car's A/C - when you put the controls to "Max A/C" the system recycles just the air inside the car and doesn't use any outside air. When the control is set to normal A/C, some outside (fresh) air is brought in.

The same thing is true for a window A/C unit. Keeping the vent closed will help the unit de-humidify and cool the air more quickly.

Describe your Kenmore Air Conditioner Proble. My

the vent is a fresh air intake, when it is pulled open you are mixing outdoor air in the unit. when it is hot and humid outside you will make the unit struggle to cool. Leave the vent closed.

Humidity

An air conditioner of this type always has standing water sitting in the base-tray of the machine as it's running. They're designed to work that way. However, if the unit leans slightly in toward the inside of your house, then the water in the tray can be deeper than it should and/or add extra humidity to the inside air. These units are designed to be installed so that they lean slightly to the _outside_ of the window or wall-hole where they are mounted. This way the standing water drains off to the ground outside and isn't so deep on the inside of the unit that it adds too much humidity to the inside air. Check the mounting of this unit to make sure it leans slightly toward the outside. Also verify that any notch or drain hole on the outside end of the unit, intended to guide draining water, is not clogged with debris (which could also cause the standing water in the unit to be at too high a level). Also verify that the "vent" is closed, if this unit is equipped with said vent opening. An open vent panel can allow humid outside air inside as the unit is running. Hope this helps! ;)
