Fridge not working, since July twice I have had to switch off the appliance for 24hours, when I switch it back on it works for a while but I can't keep doing this. Is it worth getting an engineer out to it, I was told the parts may be obsolete. So i could end up paying for a service call and have nothing at the end of it.

SOURCE: Fridge & Freezer not getting cold enough

Welshons, Take a look at the picture Im posting. Did your evaporator look like it? If so your system may be restricted. This is a pretty common problem in Frigidaire top mounts. The good news is that it would be covered under warranty if it is not over 5 years old. As long as your condensor fan is running and the condensor is clean, evaporator not frosted up and evap fan running. I would think that you have a weak compressor or a restriction. SOURCE: Freezer defrost LG american style

Defrost the unit for two days with the doors open...I know you're going to lose your contents. You may have ice on the coils internally. Next make sure you've cleaned the external coils under the unit. Leaving liquids open inside the unit or setting it colder than required will both cause issues like the ones you've got. Also, be sure all air vents inside the unit are unblocked and the door closes tightly all around.

SOURCE: does outside temperature affect performance of freezer

Top mount refrigerator installed in a garage and the food in the freezer is defrosting when
the temperature in the garage goes below 55 degrees fahrenheit.
On top mount refrigerators you cycle the compressor and fan/fans from the food
compartment temperature. When the room temperature gets colder than 55 F, you have
long off times waiting for the food compartment to warm enough to trip the cold control.
This long off time is allowing the freezer temperature to get high enough that food can start
to defrost.
There is a kit for refrigerators installed in applications where the temperature can go as low
as 34 F and still maintain good freezer temperatures. The kit part number is 5303918301
and it contains a heater that mounts in the control box and an instruction sheet advising
how to install the heater.
Kit 5303918301 contains:
Part # 5303950194 Instruction sheet
Part # 241532101 Heater

SOURCE: have a hotpoint rsf60 fridge/freezer,noticed

The red warning light will not go out?

1. Has the fridge freezer just been
installed? If so, this is normal and the
light will go out when the correct
temperature has been reached.

2. Has the fridge freezer been loaded
with a large quantity of food? If so,
the light will go out when the correct
temperature has been reached.

3. Have the doors been closed
properly?

Kenmore 795 freezer on top. Freezer working, temp lights on in fridge, but fridge not cooling and lamp out as well.

If the freezer is located above the fridge, the air from the freezer drops into the fridge to create the cooling in the fridge. So what I would look for is a blocked vent from the freezer to the fridge, which is usually located on the top and or back of the fridge inside of cores. You can get a frost or ice build up in there and block the air flow to the fridge, that is usuall the problem. I would also heck the dial for temp control in the fridge, I know my kids have changed it before on me.

Fridge freezer not freezing

Click means overload tripping due to compressor drawing extra current due to overheating or wear and tear. Check running current mentioned on the specs sticker and if the same is ok. then relay must be checked.

Top half fridge not cold freezer department fine

I had the same problem; the top fridge compartment was warming up to 14C while the freezer compartment was starting to defrost (frozen stuff was starting to become soft. I took the rear wall off the freezer compartment and found it all iced up. I defrosted it with a blower heater then powered it back up. It all worked fine for a month when the same thing happened. I figured that the defrost cycle wasn't working. I located the defrost timer on the rear right-side of the fridge. I rotated it several times and found that the fridge was turning on and off. I rotated it until the fridge turned off. I waited 5 minutes then stuck my head into the freezer compartment and felt the rear wall at the bottom where he drain is; it felt warm so I guessed the defrost heater element was ok. I ordered a defrost timer and installed it. I haven't had a problem since.

I Have a fridge-freezer, the freezer is now filled with ice/frost on sides and top, as if it were not frost free. I addition, the fridge is not very cold
