Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have an Infocus SP-7210 front projector. I am not able to get signal from the M1-DA port which just appeared to stop working. Other inputs such as the component inputs are working. I have tried different cables and sources to the M1-DA port but no luck. Just appears to have lost its ability to sync on that port.

M1-DA is a proprietary (only InFocus devices use it) digital port. As such it either works or it doesn't - there isn't anything you can do to it, no adjustments, no configurations.
If it has failed the only ones that can help you are the guys from the InFocus repair shop.

I should have mentioned before. When I took the projector down, the M1-DA port worked. When I ceiling mounted it again and connected the same source and cable and power outlet from when it worked while unmounted, it did not. I am planning on taking it down again to see if it works again, but this is very strange.

Better buy a new identical cable and try with it again. What has caused all of this ? Maybe when you unplugged it a spark of static was generated and this is plenty enough to fry the port.

Not sure what has caused it. Like I stated, this was ceiling mounted. Worked up there for over a year no problem, then one day, it behaves like this. I was thinking of re-flashing the firmware.

How do I change the format from 480i to 1080?

First, you need to verify that you have an HD source (720p, 1080i) connected to your M1-DA port or RGB component video ports.
S-Video and Composite video inputs are not capable of providing a 1080 signal. Then, in the menu, go to settings and then select "Sources". Verify that the source you want to use is checked and enabled. Once you exit the menu, perss source on the keypad until your selection shows up. If you have a good signal, it will sync up and display your program. To verify what signal you are watching, go back into the main menu and select "About" It will show which source you are using and what the format is.

I'm tryingto hook up my lp350 to hdmi. I purchased an m1-da to hdmi adapter. When I hook up my dvd player or PS3, I get a message that the display does not contain HDCP compatibility.

Unfortunatly your projector is not HDCP compliant. In other words it lacks the proper hardware and software which is neccessary for you to watch HDCP content. HDCP is a form of copy protection.

PS3 to Infocus LP 350 projector using HDMI

M1-DA is a type of DVI connection that produces both analogue and digital signals, the easiest and most quality source cable for you to get is a HDMI to M1-DA cable which is now widely available for purchase.

Infocus should have included this cable in with your projector, but instead the power at bee decided to put a M1-DA to DVI-D cable instead when most visual devices now support HDMI and not DVI nowadays.

Words on screen can be seen

In the picture there is a check box labeled "overscan"
Uncheck it.
If that doesn't work... What input are you using? This can also happen with the incorrect DVI or HDMI to M1-D adapter. If you are using the M1-D computer input try using the composite input. If you are using the computer with a computer source try changing to the external monitor screen resolution or aspect ratio.

Connecting Projector to High Def Source (e.g. PS3 HDMI)

That projector supports M1-D also which is the digital side of the M1-DA... Anyway, they sell cables that are M1-D to HDMI to which you can hook directly to the PS3. They are decently priced too, less than $20. I know this thread is old, but I came across it due to an issue I am having with my xb31, broken color wheel. Trying to find parts...

LP 640 projector not able to display 1080p

Hello, The LP640 will NOT down-convert 1080p
1080i is the max it can down-convert.

As far as the DIGI input, it is not DVI... It's a proprietary
InFocus format they call M1-D P&D and is NOT HDCP compatible. I have several LP640 manuals, some quite old and none of them claim that 1080p is a valid resolution. interesting that your manual says it is... very odd indeed.

Good Luck!
