It seems that the connector which connects the board and the screen is loose, re-seating that connector will help to fix the problem. For the same you will have to open it and then locate the cable that goes from the board to the screen take that cable out and put it back in there.

Hi,

From your description it appears that the LCD does not receive signal from the PC and it turns off automatically. This is completely normal and we need to troubleshoot in an orderly fashion.

First we must locate the cause. Please check whether the VGA cable is tight and secure; remove and reattach at both ends. Twist the screws lightly so the jacks do not move but do not over tighten. Try again.

If your PC has on-board VGA option and you are using a PCI/AGP card then switch the VGA jack to the on-board connector. Its located near the USB jacks. The external PCI card (if present is usually located below, where you can find the modem jack).

The easiest way to find the fault would be to use this monitor with another PC and use another monitor with this PC. This is the straight forward method but requires you to have spare monitor and PC.

If you do not have access to any other equipment, just follow the above steps and let me know the results. And please include the make and model of your PC.

Well, from your description, it looks like a problem with the LCD input panel. If its in warranty, avail it. I am not an LCD repair expert but there are good experts here who can provide a step by step dismantling and repair procedure if you are interested. Hope the next expert guides you through the repairs. Thanks.

Try running through all the different resolution settings on your laptop, some tv's are very specific about which resolutions will display and which won't.

My HP Pavilion G6 laptop screen turns on and then goes blank (black)

When the screen turns on does it show anything or does it turn on and go to black?

If it goes to straight black it could be two things typically.
1. The LCD screen is having an issue. Connection cable / LCD screen itself.
2. The Graphics Card has gone out.

Hp 2509m picture stays on for a few seconds then goes to Black

I had the same issue, It actually turned out to be the backlights themselves. An easy way to check this is by shining a bright light on the screen while its on. you should be able to see the picture.

After 2 seconds my monitor HP w1907v is switching off itself and there's no way to bring it back to life again. If i switch off and on again the monitor shows images for 2 seconds and then dies. I...

Well the monitor obviously works, so I see no reason to open the case on the monitor especially because there are no user serviceable parts within the case. my sugestion is to try the monitor on another PC if that yeilds the same results then I am wrong and the problem lies with the monitor. I believe the are two types of connections for this monitor shane_barnha_2.jpg VGA and DVI shane_barnha_0.png
Next step is to try the one that you have not tried yet if that fixes it then the problem lies in the output conection on the back of PC the input connection on bottom of monitor or the cable itself. If there isn't a second connection like I think then the next option would be to try another monitor, which if you do not have available can be achieved by using most new flat screen TV's If you have a TV With the same conection Just move the PC or TV close enough to try, Use your remote to change TV input to PC then turn TV off connect cable turn TV on and start up your PC if this works you will need to have your monitor repaired or replaced.

Thumbs Up if helpful, Feedback is Appreciated!!!
Good Luck!!!

My emprex monitor has power but the image wont stay on. the screen somes on, shows an image for about 2 seconds then goes black.

This sounds like a backlight problem. I've had this with an acer laptop before and it needed a new backlight replacment under warranty.

Also check things like the connection cable, try it with a different pc, try a different (lower) screen resolution in case it's not compatible.

Screen goes black on my hp pavilion dv4000 notebook

Try connecting an external monitor to the laptop, power up the monitor first then boot up the laptop. The video data will switch to the monitor automatically, check if the monitor dislays a normal image and see if the image stays on the monitor.
Also press and hold the Fn key and press the F4 key, these keys toggle the video output between the LCD screen and the video port.
Test to see if this functions correctly.
Get back to me with the results of the tests.

The l226wtq goes black

Try shining a flashlight on the screen, or without the flashlight, try to see if you can distinguish anything on the screen at all, if you do, the backlight is dead, or the monitor has an internal most likely unfixable problem.

Image appears for 2-3 seconds then screen goes black

The following steps are how to examine what's wrong with your LCD monitors. After you turned it on and the screen went black, you have to check that if you can see the image on the screen or not by shining a flashlight into the screen, not directly but find the best angle to the screen and take a look very closely. If you can see the icons or any image, there will be a minor problem. This is because of the lamps inside screen. Some of them were broken and it is very easy to replace. If you cannot see anything on the screen, there'll be some problems with inverter board. If you have soldering tool and want to fix it by yourself, check the caps first. It may cause this problem. Some caps might show leaking or burn spot on the board because of too high temp. If you don't have soldering tool, you better go get a technician to do so. Hope this help!! If anything I can help you with, feel free to let me know.
Thank you,
Tan

The Screen is back and it won't charge

Hello, it isn't that simple as a broken charger. Try the following thing. Connect battery to the PDA, check that the battery LID is connected FIRMLY to the body (there is a contact there that woun't allow the PDA to start if the lid isn't connected properly, you may want to check it too, look carefully for a small black thing and check that it can be pressed). Then connect the pda for half hour to the charger, even if no light or amber led is flashing. Then make a master reset as showed here and connect the PDA to a usb sync cable with your computer. Press simultaneous the soft reset and the power button, then press only the soft reset button. The PDA should start. If not, there is a problem with a DC converter component on the mainboard or the connector I was talking about before. Even if the charger is broken, your PDA should power on from USB cable. Good luck, feel free to ask further questions and always remember to rate replies received from this site :)
