Try plugging it into the computer you normally sync it with. Then open iTunes.
After iTunes recognizes your nano, you can eject and disconnect the iPod from your computer.

It should be unlocked now.

If that does not work, then you'll have to restore your iPod (which will remove *all* data from the iPod).
You can do that like this:
plug it in to your computer
launching iTunes
when iTunes recognizes your nano, click on the nano, then click on "Restore" (on the "Summary" tab).

Then follow the onscreen instructions.

You'll need to resync all your music, etc. to get it back on your iPod.

Hope this helps!

I put a passcode on my ipod nano and i cant remember it

Good day,

I came across a few situations where someone has forgotten their iPod's passcode and now can't use it.

I will give some instructions on how to possibly repair this problem.

The first thing you can try is to connect your Ipod to it's HOME Computer. This will normally override the lock. Only thing is that you need the lock code to be able to assign a new code.

Another method I came across is to connect your Ipod to a computer. Make sure you are able to see all hidden folders. Browse to your Ipod on My Computer and double click on your Ipod folder/location. Open the folder named "iPod_Control" inside the folder open the folder "Device". Inside the device folder rename the file "_locked" to "_unlocked".

These two methods has worked for me in the past, so please feel free to let me know if this help you!

I have forgotten my combination to unlock my screen for my ipod nano. and i don't want to restore settings. does anyone know how to unlock?

there is no way to do it without restoring. So if you want to do it the right way. Then here you go. that is not a problem follow the steps below. If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with
which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the
device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced
with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your
data will not be present Follow the steps that i have outlined below. If this does not completely help your situation
please let me know and i will be glad to assist you. According to Apple, if you have forgotten the code, you can unlock the IPod by doing the
following: 1 If you can't unlock IPod using either [the code or connecting it to the computer you use to
manage its songs. . . Plug the iPod USB cable into the bottom of the iPod Nano. 2 Plug the other end of the iPod USB cable into a free USB port on a Mac or PC computer. 3 Open the iTunes application by clicking on the Dock icon on a Mac or using the Start menu on a
PC. 4 Click on the name of your iPod Nano under the "Devices" list in the iTunes window. 5 Click on the "Sync" button to establish a connection between your iPod and the computer. 6 Click on the eject symbol next to your iPod's name after the syncing process has finished. 7 Unplug your iPod Nano. The device will be unlocked and you will be able to access all normal
features again. if that does not work you can restore your iPod to factory settings using iPod Updater. Please
note that this will erase all data on your iPod. Afterwards, you can add your music and data back to your iPod. If you want to change the primary computer that your IPod is associated with, do this: 1. Restore your iPod. WARNING: The restore process cannot be undone. All of your songs and files will be deleted. Always make a backup of your important data. 2. Connect your iPod to the computer that you want to be the primary computer. 3. Open iTunes and synchronize. Apple also notes that company "representatives cannot unlock an iPod if you forget your
combination. If you can't unlock your iPod and you don't have access to the primary computer,
your only option is to restore the IPod, which will erase all music and data." If you need further assistance please feel free to follow up with a comment and i will be here to

How do I reset a forgotten ipod passcode?

Hi,
If you can’t remember the current combination, the only way to clear it and enter a new one is to restore the iPod nano software.
You can use iTunes to update or restore iPod software.
If you choose to restore, all data is erased from iPod , including songs, videos, files, contacts, photos, calendar information, and any other data. All iPod settings are restored to their original state.
Thank You

Hey, my ipod touch has been disabled, won't let me put my passcode, and dosn't open on my itunes, what can i do?

if its disabled that means the wrong passcode was entered too many times. If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. According to Apple, if you have forgotten the code, you can unlock the IPod by doing the following: 1 If you can't unlock IPod using either [the code or connecting it to the computer you use to manage

Forgotten password

Hello All!

I had the same problem, my officemate came to me and asked formy help, her nephew tinkered on her ipod nano and set the passcode, and did not remember what it was.

the ipod nano can be unlocked when connected to the computer with itunes but, if you want to change the passcode to a new one it will ask for the old code which i dont have. even if you reset all the settings to factory default setting it will not reset.

this is a little hard for some of you to follow, but, to totally remove the unknown old code this is what i've done:
first, sync your music to your PC so that you have a backup of all your music. Second, make sure enable disk use is checked. third, format your IPOD. This sounds nut but this did the trick.

after doing this, check if you can set a new passcode to the screen lock, you should be able to do it. and please dont forget the new passcode. I hope this helps.
