Question about Sanyo VPC-S880 Digital Camera
I don't know why I bother to keep answering this particular question, since the few who bother to rate my answer rate it as if they hold me personally responsible for the design of their camera, but here goes anyway:
The VPC-S880 was designed as a camera, to store images (and incidentally, videos) to internal memory or a memory card. It was not designed to stream live video to an external device. Adding that capability would have increased the cost, size, and weight of the camera. It also would have meant letting most of the resolution of the camera go to waste.

No, digital cameras usually cannot be used as webcams unfortunately because they do not have the correct softwear to hook up to a computer.

I'm not sure what led you to believe that your camera can be used as a webcam, but based on the user manual I was able to download for the product you listed, it does not mention that ability/capability. You can look at your user manual here:
I'm sorry if it's not what you wanted to hear. Best of Luck!

It will not work through USB like a standard webcam. Ls-70 only lets you access camera memory card/onboard memory when connected via USB.
However you could connect the camera video-out socket to a PC with graphics card with video capture function. Some cards with video capture work with skype (check this URL:
There are also various software solutions which can fool your webchat client into thinking that video capture stream is actually an output of a usb webcam. (Try google for "video capture into skype".
At the moment this seems to be the only easy way to use LS-70 as webcam.
