Black lines on scan

I have the Hp scanjet 2300c and it was working perfectly fine and then i scanned a page and it came with a huge thick black line in the middle of the page so i discarded it. I scanned again and then this thick line turned bigger and now half the page comes out normal (the thing i scan) and the bottom half of the page is black. How can i fix it?

You can lift the top of the automatic document feed and clean the rollers and the glass inside there with distilled water or rubbing alcohol. My black lines are gone. Saved me having to go get a new scanner.

Hp scanjet2300c scans have a yellow tint and black patches.

The best way to check if the scanner is okay or not is by installing on another computer. First try B&W, then try color. IF it works may be your OS or driver (of the old comp) is corrupted.
