When I try to scan, I am told I have no scan options. I need to install or run HP software for this feature. What software do I install or run?????

  • Anonymous May 06, 2008

HP 7310 control panel says "No Connection" or "No Scan Options. You need to install or run HP software for this feature". Scans OK from HP Director menu on computer (so irritatingly slowly), but scan to file option on the machine itself (which is of course the way I like to use it) returns the error. Machine is connected via USB and communicates fine for printing. I have restarted the computer, uninstalled and reinstalled the software, etc. After uninstalling and reinstalling, it worked correctly once - then problem resumed and now I have to scan from HP Director each time. Icon in system tray ("HP Digital Imaging Monitor") has a green checkmark so I assume it's running.

Open HP Director and then go to Scan settings...scan to Setup or Buttons settings and then go to Front Panel Destination....in that under front panel destination list it should show you the differnt applications like Ms word, wordpad, paint etc.
If it is not there add them from the available destination list and then apply...then try to scan...if it does not work then.Insert the software disk...browse to the disk..inside you will find a folder called setup...inside the setup folder you will find a folder called destination...open it inside you will find a destination.msi flle..right click on it and then click on repair.
Then try to scan again.
One more thing ..alos try to use a usb cable that's not more the 6 feet long and alos update the usb chipset if possible.

Make sure the HP Digital Imaging Monitor is running in the system tray at the lower-right corner of the computer screen. If it is running do a right click on it and see if it has your printer listed on it.

If Digital Imaging MOnitor is not running or your printer is not listed when you do a right click, it means that the printer softwares is not installed properly.

You will have to complete clean up the HP printer softwares and reinstall the software.

I want to Scan a page on Lexmark X6150. Please guide me how to set the Options and Select buttons. I pressed the start button after pressing the scan button. It does do anything.

Find the "menu" button on your printers keypad and push it. Use the up and down areas on the printers keypad to advance from choice to choice. Find the option that says something similar to "scan settings" . Push the "ok" button or the "enter" button on your printers keypad to open this option. Continue scrolling with the up and down arrows and using the ok or enter keys on your printer and locate the "scan to" choices. Set up your software choice for scanning text documents and pictures. Most people want to open and edit text documents in software like "Microsoft Office" in your computer. Choose a photo editing software installed in your computer to send pictures scanned on your printer to. When these settings are set and saved, turn on both the computer and printer and try scanning from printer to computer again to check and see if the problem is solved. If you experience any other issues, pleas clarify what they are and I will try and help you solve this right now before I leave for work.

How do you get the Canon Pixma mp500 to scan?

Hi there,

Scanning images,
About Scanning images
You can scan images from the machine to a computer without printing them and save them in popular formats. Scanned data saved on your computer can be processed using image processing software. Furthermore, you can use the OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software to convert scanned paper documents to text data.

* Before scanning
Before scanning images, confirm the following :
- Are the necessary software (MP Drivers and MP Navigator) installed ?
If the software is not installed, install it.
- Does the document to be scanned meet the requirements for an original to be set on the Platen Glass ?
- Is the machine connected to a computer correclty.
Confirm that the connection between the machine and the computer is physically secure.

Scanning Methods.

A) Scanning Using the MP Navigator
MP Navigator enables you to scan in documents loaded on the Platen Glass and view images saved on your computer or on a memory card. Scanned documents can be previewed and easily printed and edited according to your needs.
You can use the supplied application softwares to edit or print the document you have scanned.

Windows : Double-click the [MP Navigator 2.0] icon on your desktop to launch MP Navigator.
Mac : Select [Applications] from the [Go] menu, then double-click the [MP Navigator 2.0] icon to launch MP Navigator.

You can launch the following application software from the MP Navigator.
* Easy-PhotoPrint (Photo Printing)
* ArcSoft PhotoStudio (Photo image editing)
* ScanSoft OmniPage SE ( Converting scanned document to text)
- This application software may not be supplied with teis machine in some country.

Note : If you did a [Custom Install] and only installed the MP Driver and MP Navigator, these application software were not installed and thus cannot be launched. To launch any of the above application softwares from MP Navigator, do a [Custom Install] once again to install them.
For detailed operations of the MP Navigator, refer to the Scan Guide.

B) Scanning Using the Operation Panel of the Machine
You can scan documents to your computer by using the Operation Panel.
Important : Do not insert or remove USB cables when scanning images with the machine connected to a computer, or when the computer is at sleep or standby mode.
*If you are using Windows XP
The program selection screen is displyed the first time you press [Color] or [Black] on the machine.. Specify the [MP Navigator 2.0] as the application software to use, check [Always use this program for this action], then click [OK]. From the next time, MP Navigator is automatically started.

*When using Mac OS X
For the machine to start scanning when [Color] or [Black] is pressed, you need to set MP Navigator as the starting application software in Image Capture under [Applications] of Mac OS X.

1) Press [ON/OFF] to turn on the machine.
2) Load the documents on the Platen Glass.
3) Select the scan option.
a) Press [Scan].
The scan operation selection screen is displayed.
b) Use Up or Down arrows to select the scan operation, then press [OK].
Scan standby screen is displayed.
Save to PC : The document is scanned and saved.
Save as PDF file : The document is scanned and stored as a PDF file.
Attach to E-Mail : The document is scanned, and the image is attached to an e-mai using the e-mail application software.
OPen with application : The document is scanned and displayed on the registered application software.

4) Press [Color] or [Black].
The document is scanned. The settings configured from MP Navigator apply when scanning.
Important : If with some types of original the position and size of the image is not scanned in correctly, please refer to the "Selecting the Behaviour of the Operation Panel with Mp Navigator " in the Scan Guide (on-screen manual). and change the MP Navigator [Document Type] and [Document Size]] to match those of the original being scanned.
Note : The operation to be performed after scanning the document depends on the scan operation setting you have selected in step 3. For details on how to modify the operation settings, refer tp the Scan Guide on-screen menual.

C) Scanning from an Application Software
You can scan an image from TWAIN-or- WIA (Windows XP only) complaint application software and handle the scanned image in the application software. For detailed operations, refer to the Scan Guide (on-screen manual).

Hope this helps.

Thanks
Have a good day.

Scanning from a canon 3220

Yes, the type of scanning mentioned by the previous answer is called 'pull scanning' and you will have limited functionality. You have to load the document on the copier, turn on the scanner (nobody can use the machine now) return to your desk which I hope is not far from the copier because the doc stays there until you 'insert picture from scanner' then the machine scans the document and you run back to the copier to get it before someone throws it in the trash! It's a free system but limited. To have a fully functioning 'push scanner' where you send a doc as you stand at the copier to either a file on your computer, server or an email address you would need a universal send kit installed. If your machine has one you'l see the option tab called 'SEND' along the top of your screen. If you have this you're in luck. All you need is to enter the necessary network and email settings which can be done by any half decent network administrator vis the 'system settings' area from the addtional functions screen (accessed by pressing the head key with a star in it). Once this is set up merely select the 'SEND' tab and insert your document. In the top right hand corner will be a drop down menu reading either 'FILE' 'EMAIL' or 'FTP' If you want to send it to a shared folder on your network (anywhere) you select the 'FILE' option and then use the drop down menu in the centre of the screen to search the network for your shared folder. Select it and then press ok then the start key - IT'S GONE - IF YOU'RE LUCKY. To send to email you just select the 'EMAIL' option and enter the email address of the recipient and ok then start and you're in business provided that all the network and email settings are correctly entered and permissions for network access is set up. The machine needs a email account registered for it as well. I'm tired now - good luck.

Hp printer scanning prblm

Are you able to make copies only (just press copy color or copy balck and check)
And are you able to scan pictures.
If yes then make sure you are scanning from HP Director as Scan documents and follow the on screen direction.
If you do not get the option to scan documents then in HP Director go to> Settings> Scan Documents settings> You will see a option saying promt for these setting at the time of Scan> Put a check mark on that and click on Apply and ok and then try scanning document.
If this does not work the go to Start> Control panel (or Start> Settings> Control panel> Then printer and other hardware or Scanners and cameras> then Right click on the Printer icon> and scan from the options there.

Good Luck
