Hi... Go to the device manager and uninstall the driver for your pointing device then restart your computer. Windows should be able to detect your mouse and reinstall its driver automatically.

Hope it helps!

I started my desktop and the mouse will only move side to side not up and down

Try using another mouse and see if the problem stays with the mouse or not. If you are using a ball type mouse instead of an optical mouse then there might be dirt inside the roller ball assembly.

Curser jumps all over the place, hard to drag anything and sometimes it double clicks

If this mouse has the roller ball, the rollers it runs on are dirty. Remove the ball and use a q tip to clean all three rollers the ball runs on.

It is also possible that the cable to the moise has broken. This occurs where it flexes.

A person experienced in electronics can shorten the cable slightly to get rid of the bad section.

Hi there.
I am going to assume its a usb one

First off disconnect as many items as you can that are connected to your computer.
shut down and restart.
plug in the mouse (qo the laptop not a hub) before you use it go to control panel / system / hardware.
and make sure it is shown in there along with your internal usb hardware. If you see any exclamation marks with ANY hardware fix those issues first before moving on.
If you are all here then you can close the system box.
Now click the properties for MOUSE. It has 5 tabs and you want the first one which should have no ticks on it anywhere you can however double click the test folder icon and see if it changes. if it does your work is done.

You might also want to go to your mouse manufacturers site and see if there is a newer driver

If its a BALL mouse the double check that it is 100% clean inside

If its a serial mouse (they do still exist) double check ant serial post settings from control panel / hardware.

If its a PS2 mouse then check that you have not accidentally broken a pin off or bent one. If you eave then VERY carefully try bend it back this is sometimes successfull but not always If it breaks you can but another end for it but I would just buy a new one

If its optical then check that there is nothing stuck underneath in or around where the red diode is as that too has caused problems in the past.

Mouse sometimes double clicks so that it opens 2 things at a time, what is causing that. It also seems to be sticking I have to press it a couple of times to get it to click

You need to go into the control panel and choose the mouse icon.
From there you can set the double-click speed. They give you a little box to click to calibrate the click speed.

Dell Mouse Scroll Ball Wont Work

If it really _has_ a ball, the rollers inside the ball compartment get clogged with gummy matterial & needs to be cleaned thoroughly - also sometimes the dirt & dust need to be blown out as they can cover the light sensors

Mouse troubles

This may be a simple driver glitch. Uninstall the drivers for the mouse, or synaptic touch pad, from the device manager, then reboot. The machine will find the touch pad and reinstall the drivers. If there's still no change, try going to Dell's support site and check for updated drivers. These drivers are usually in a utilities package instead of being an individual driver. If you still have problems get back to me and I'll dig a little deeper.

Mouse stoped charging lights on charger stay green but mouse light stays red and wont work most of the time i put regular in and it works but wont charge help please

this is a problem with my mx700. you need to constantly clean the two brass coloured connectors at the bottom of the mouse. an eraser works well. even with this you sometimes need to jiggle the mouse a little in the holder to get it to charge. this is not logitech usual standard and very annoying.
hope this helps.
