Question about HTC Touch Pro2 Smartphone

2 Answers

This is my second touch pro 2, each has had the same problem. The battery goes dead, then the phone freezes and now the batter goes dead after 3 hours unhooked from a power source. I am locking the screen, and have even left the phone charging while turned off for two days. problem still reappears.

The batteries in those devices are Li-Ion battery (look it up on wikipedia, if you want chemical details). They are VERY sensitive to deep discharging.
They are composed of several cells - and even one deep-discharge can fry at least one. In that case, polarity in this particular cell drops and can even be reversed, rendering the battery useless.

That is why all phones switch themselves off way before that occurs - in theory. If the phone hangs, it cannot switch itself off and abovesaid happens.

So what you can do: First, get a new battery. Yours is bad. They are not expensive at amazon or similar.

Then, either
a) Prevent freezes. HTC Touch Pro 2's are not know to freeze out of blue sky (and mine rarely did), so I guess you keep on using an application that crashes you device. I suggest installing your apps one by one to see, which causes the crash. Meanwhile, rely on b).

or

b) Prevent deep-discharging. Keep it charged above 50% all the time until you are sure to get no more crashes. It will not hurt the battery to be charged often and only marginally to have that much capacity constantly.

My controller goes dead after 5 seconds

You probably need new batteries. If that doesn't work then try cleaning the battery contacts. To do so remove the battery cover and use a pencil eraser (pink ones work best) to gently clean the silver batter contacts. Gently blow the eraser dust out and reinsert the batteries.

Touch screen not working

Remove the battery, hold the power button down for a few seconds with the battery removed, re-attach the batter and power on. If this does not work, you will probably need to see your cell phone provider for a replacement phone.

Batter y charger goes to 10 amps then after2to4 minutes charger kicks off coming back on 1to 2 minutes but very little spark in battetry

Sounds like this battery may have a dead short in it. When the plates inside get thin, one can break and if it touches another plate can short the battery out, causing it to discharge. try the charger on another battery and see if it works. This will tell you whether the charger is bad or the battery is bad.

After charging my dead battery it will only run for a second or two then dies.

Perhaps the batter is "dead" dead and has met the end of it's functional life. You see, lead batteries like car batteries convert lead ions in solution into a solid as energy by chemical reaction. Charging the batter reverses the process, but the process becomes less and less reverseable as the age of the batter increases. When the process can no longer be efficiently reversed by "charging", the battery remains in it's dead, or semi-dead state, where it might run for only a few seconds.

Also, your alternator might be shot because technically, if you can start your engine, the alternator should provide the power to remain on; the battery serves only the purpose of starting the car and receiving the charge from the alternator to power the rest of the car's electronics.

Test both the battery and alternator, no more than $100-$150 to fix either problem.

Hope that helps!

Htc tpuch pro keyboard doesnt work,, it did it just stoped ,, it lights up for about 3 to 4 seconds and then goes out ,, how do i fix this problem for good

Try removing and re-inserting the battery.

It is also possible that the battery is not properly charged or not charging properly.

Try to charge the phone completely and check if it is getting charged properly.

If nothing works... purchase a new battery.

I am sure the problem is with the battery.

Please inform me if the problem is solved or not.

Slide out keyboard not working on HTC Touch Pro

Take the battery out of the TP and then press down very hard on the spacebar. This will reconnect the flex cable and will fix it for the time being. But in the end a replacement will be needed.
