Question about Woods Upright Freezer V1613RW3
Kenmore upright freezer leaking oil like substance. noticed when freezer alarm started going off. pushed quick freeze button and 12 hours later popsicles are still not frozen, along with some other foods.
pull unit away from wall and noticed "oil" on the floor. looked at the compressor and there is "oil" in the drip pans and there are almost full.
should i unplug?
time to get a new freezer?
about 8 years old.
You have a Refrigerant Gas (Freon) leak. Oil travels with the Refrigerant Gas thru the system, that's why you see the oil on the drip pans, if you look closely you should be able to know where is coming from.
For what you are telling me, it seems that the leak is of considerable size, I recommend to ASAP take freezer to a Kenmore authorized service station for a repair estimate, then you can decide to fix it or get a new one. If you call a repair tech, he will charge for the house call regardles.
