You need to install the driver : http://support.creative.com/downloads/download.aspx?nDownloadId=1843

or you can use your onboard soundcard from your motherboard (your motherboard already have onboard soundcard)

Dear Mr. Yaseen; To install windows XP SP2, you will need a disk that self installs the windows. You will be asked very few questions. Now, who said that the computer does not see your drice? In order that we can check that we will need a Rescue Floppy Disk. When you bought the computer you were given two (2) CD/DVD, one contains the OS and the other the drivers. If the drive C is corrupt beyond repair, you will need the Rescue Floppy Drive, which open the way to MSDOS, upon which Windows XP SP2 is based. Remove all CD/DVD from the computer and insert the Rescue Floppy Diskette. It should start immediately. It will ask you one question, if you want to have CD/DVD help and you say yes. The rest will happen automatically and a new drive named "A" will be established: There is no drive "B" in normal windows; drive C is usually the "windows XP SP2" drive; drive D can be the C

to ensure that sound driver is installed or not right click on "my computer" go to "properties" then click on "hardware" tab then click on "device manager" then chack any yellow question mark(?) or exclamation (!) mark is their or not if (?) marks show with ur audio device, mean audio driver not installed. installed it from mother board cd (which is provided by ur motherboard vander).

go to the support site for your motherboard, there you will get universal bus architecture device drive. Install this before you install the Audio/Sound driver.

About windows setup

Hi niket_shah, sorry but you're board Asus M2N-MX, does support Win XP SP2.
Chances are that while installing windows updates one or more updates failed. People like myself know from repairing PC's which updates need to be installed first. If you're Win XP SP2 did not or would not install than either the Win CD is not a valid Microsoft Win XP SP2 CD or (You have a copy) & there is something wrong with the CD. After a fresh (New install) of Win XP with SP2 there is more than 90+ updates for SP2 which must be downloaded through windows update program. Or you're windows will not function properly.
Just to show you what versions of windows the M2N-MX board does support. Click the link listed below. Once the link loads click the + sign next to Audio. Scroll down the page an notice the different Window version listed for you're board.
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?modelname=M2N-MX&SLanguage=en-us
To recap this issue. The problem is either the WinCD or possibly you're hard drive. Make sure you allow windows to perform a full format before installing window. (Not a quick format).

kgprakash, Did you check your BIOS's Main Page to see if the board is reqognizing the drive correctly? If so did you change from Master setting to Cable Select or vice versa? Some drives don't like to play nice. Have you access to a differnt drive, just to see if XP finds it. If you have SATA or Raid capabilities on the board read the manual this messed me up for awhile (the Asus I use has 6 internal Sata ports and one IDE legacy connector). If you only have IDE, are you in the connector marked or known as IDE0? Just some thoughts.... Pcdok
