How can I use my iPod while charging?

<p>If your iPod and it gets low on battery, you can continue to enjoy your music while charging your iPod. To charge your iPod, you can choose from one of two ways: Use a computer to add power to your iPod, or use an electrical outlet to charge the device. Either method will allow you to use your iPod while charging. My computer crashed. I dowloaded itunes to new one but it won't let me sync the songs I didn't purchase from itunes on my nano.

iTunes will let you transfer your purchased songs from your iPod to your new iTunes as detailed here
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848

For the rest of your iPod music, you will need to use a program like TouchCopy to copy your iPod content onto your computer or straight to your new iTunes. TouchCopy lets you copy all your music, video, photos, contacts, notes, calendars, games and more from your iPod.

To copy your iPod music using TouchCopy, you will need to...
1. Download and install TouchCopy on your computer. TouchCopy works with all iPod types and the iPhone. There are free PC and Mac downloads available from here
http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy/

2. Ensure that iTunes is closed before connecting your iPod. Then start TouchCopy and connect your iPod. TouchCopy will have fixed your iTunes preferences so that iTunes will not sync music or video with your iPod while TouchCopy is running. These changes are restored when you quit TouchCopy.

3. Use TouchCopy to copy all your iPod content to your computer hard drive or straight into iTunes.

4. You can then use iTunes to re-sync your iPod, which will re-load your iPod with all your music and let you add new content to it too.

Copy music from Ipod

You've got a new computer. All your music and videos are on your iPod and you'd like to populate you new iTunes library from it. Unfortunately iTunes doesn't let you transfer anything other than your iTunes store purchases from your iPod.

To transfer all your iPod content, all your music, playlists, videos, podcasts and photos to your new iTunes library you will need to download software like TouchCopy.

Here is how to use TouchCopy

1. Download and Install TouchCopy from http://www.touchcopy.com. Downloads are free and are available for both PC and Mac.
2. Start up TouchCopy by double-clicking the TouchCopy icon on your desktop.
3. Connect your iPod or iPhone to your computer. TouchCopy may start iTunes - don't worry, TouchCopy has fixed it so that iTunes will not sync music or video with your iPod while TouchCopy is running. These changes are restored when you quit TouchCopy.
4. Select which songs you want to copy into iTunes, if you want to select all your music, select "Music" from the list on the left and click on "Copy to iTunes" button in the TouchCopy control bar.

In a similar way, you can also use TouchCopy to copy your playlists, videos, podcasts, photos, contacts, calendars, notes and iPhone SMS.

When you are satisfied that all your iPod content is safely in iTunes, use iTunes to re-sync your iPod which will enable you to add new content to it.

I have a used iPod shuffle that works but iTunes does not respond

Hello,
Here are the instructions for how to setup and register your IPod
· Insert the CD that came with your iPod into your computer.
· Open My Computer, then double-click the iPod CD to start the installation.
· In the resulting dialog, choose your preferred language from the menu choices, then click OK.
· The iPod for Windows Install.

Wizard starts up. Follow the instructions to install ipod software onto your computer, connecting your iPod to your computer (if asked) as follows:
  • To connect iPod shuffle: Remove the USB cap and plug the USB connector into a high-powered USB port on your computer.
Note: High-powered USB ports are generally the ones that reside on your computer or on a powered USB hub. If you want your iPod battery to charge while connected, avoid using the USB port on your keyboard or non-powered USB hub.
· When your computer recognizes iPod, it may update software on your iPod if needed (click Update if you get a dialog that says your iPod needs to be reformatted or restored). When finished, your iPod software will be installed at the default location, C:Program FilesiPod (unless you choose another folder).
· The installer will then install iTunes if it isn't already installed on your computer, or if you have an older version installed than the one that came on your iPod CD.
· When the installation is complete, follow the instructions to restart your computer.
· Once your computer is back up, you should be greeted by the iPod Setup Assistant (if your iPod is still connected). Type a name for your iPod in the top field.
· Choose the "Automatically update songs on my iPod" checkbox if you want to sync your entire itunes music library and playlists to your iPod each time you plug it in. If you want control of what goes onto your iPod, deselect this checkbox.
· If you have an iPod with a color display, you can have iTunes automatically copy your photos to your iPod (using your settings in iTunes preferences) to fill any remaining space by choosing the "Automatically copy photos to my iPod" checkbox. Then choose a folder from the Synchronize photos from menu. If you prefer to copy photos manually, deselect this checkbox.
· Click Next to go to the next screen. If you'd like to register your iPod at this time, click Register My iPod. Click Finish to end the setup process and open iTunes (you should see your iPod hanging out in the iTunes Source pane.
Hope this helps,

Thanks,
Prince

IPod nano, 3rd generation isn't playing music if it's not plugged into iTunes. It gets stuck on the music menu, and furthermore my pictures don't show up.

Hi,

What u can try is to connect it to computer again and try the step1:

Step1
  1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step
Step 2 to add pictures to ipod

Step2
step_1.gif Connect your iPod to your computer using the cable that came with your iPod.
step_2.gif When the iPod icon appears in iTunes, select it and click the Photos tab.
step_3.gif Select "Sync photos from" and choose the photo application or folder that contains the photos you want from the pop-up menu.
If you're using Adobe Photoshop Album 2.0 or later, or Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0 or later, you can export photos directly from those applications to your iPod by choosing Photoshop Album or Photoshop Elements from the pop-up menu.
step_4.gif Choose whether to move all your folders or albums, or only selected folders or albums.
step_5.gif To also move the full-resolution versions of these photos to your iPod, select "Include full-resolution photos."
Note: You should select this option if you plan to move the photos from your iPod to another computer

Transferring pics from ipod video, 30gb back to laptop

I don't think that is possible. Its a one way thing where you can only put pictures from your computer into the IPod.

If it does work, click on your Ipod in Itunes and go to the pictures folder and see if it will let you drag and drop them.

If it does then it work but ITunes doesn't work that way under normal situations.
