Question about GE Profile Bottom-Freezer Refrigerator with Internal Dispenser 22.2 Cu. Ft. - PFS22MIS

1 Answer

Have a GE Profile PFS22MIBBB. Just replaced condenser fan motor, and main board. The control board now is working, but the fan still has not turned on after 2 hours. Is this normal, or is there something else. Condenser and coils seem pretty hot. Original problem was fridge and freezer not cooling. Placing a desk fan behind unit aimed at coils did trick, but I need my fan back.

1st I tested my voltmeter on my vehicle, so I know it's working. I put it on J2 pin 5 with connector attached to main board and got no voltage (fridge plugged in and running). Tried on J4 pin 2 to verify if board had 12vdc. Ranging from .03 to .06. Can't believe its a bad board as everything is working great now except for fan. Checked all connectors, pulled them apart and reseated them. Going to recheck readings. Thanks for your help though. That diagram is a must have.

You will need to unplug the fan and test the voltage coming from the board. You should have 12 to 13 volts DC. Unless you place a fan on condenser that blows air to keep it cool until we locate the problem the compressor can be damaged from over heating. Click here=> GE ARTICA PROFILE TECHNICAL INFORMATION On the first diagram the tech sheet and look for J2 that has both sets of wires for evaporator and condenser fan motors. With new board and new fan you must have a bad connection in the wiring harness. Click on wiring diagram and it will open in a new tab as a Service Manual. Look it over and ask me questions as communication will be very important for you to be able to understand all of this. I will be here when ready so please let me know. Thanks, for the rate! I like dealing with people that understand what I am talking about. It is a lonely world out there because most people come here to vent anger. You are welcome to join my forum and be a part of it. I have my forum so I or whoever I put incharge does not rank people. I never liked the ranking system here. The words (That diagram is a must have.) Was as good if not better than the rate! Thanks Again, Sea Breeze

I have a freezer on top GE profile arctic fridge. It heated up for 24 hour then went back down and is now hovering at 7 freezer and 42 fridge. What is wrong?

This is a common problem with the GE Artica and Profile. The mother board=> WR55X10942 Main Control Board Compressor start components and condenser or evaporator fans must also be considered in the diagnostics. If you would like to do this yourself let me know and I will be glad to help you go throgh with the testing, Thanks Sea Breeze

If the motor is running, but running slowly, you will need to replace the motor. If there was a problem with the PCB, (control board) the motor would not run at all and you would see other problems with the refrigerator.
Here is a link to the motor.

Model psc23sgpass GE Profile freezer and frig do not get cold enough. I have already cleaned the condenser and defrosted the freezer. We seem to have determined the evap dc fan motor is not running. But I...

The fan is controlled thru the main control board located on the back of your refrigerator. Pull unit away from the wall and you will see a metal plate. The board is located there and you will need to replace the board. This is a common problem with the GE's. The board is pricey but better than a new refrigerator. If an appliance company told you the fan was bad you should try and get them to refund the fan. wr 55x10942 is the number you need.

GE Monogram ZISB36DYB Freezer Not Cold Enough; Burning Center

Pull the refrig out , and remove the panel at the bottom , on the back . Behind this panel , will be the compressor and condenser " roll " coil , and the condenser fan motor . From your description of the problem , the fan motor in not operating , or the coils are extremely clogged with dust . If the fan motor is not operating , the most likely cause , is the main control board . You can try replacing the motor first , but , the board is most likely the cause . This is the electronic board , behind the 8 " X 10 " panel , behind the refrig also . If you remove the panel , and look at the board closely , You may see a burned part ( resistor ) . However , replacing the burnt part , will not solve the problem . The complete board will need to be replaced .

The main control board is probably the problem . Part number WR55X10656 . This board controls the operation of the fan motors and everything else on the refrig . This is also the " defrost timer " . However , the coils frosting up , is probably because the fan motor is not pulling air across them . Not because of a faulty " defrost timer " . This board is located on the back of the refrig , behind an 8"X10" panel . Usually a resistor burns out relating to the fan motor operation . Cannot replace the resistor , only the board .

hopefully you have a service warranty. I have had me fridge for two years and have replaced the temp control panel twice thus far. serviceman coming AGAIN on Tuesday because now everything in the fridge is freezing. cna't get the temperature in freezer and refrigerator regulated properly. GE knows they have a problem...something in the computer panel board sticks. I'd give anything to be able to put this on the curb and buy a new refrigerator.
