E1 is a problem with air filter.

Clean or replace the air filter. Make sure filter is seated properly.

SOURCE: i have the portable danby

The water is being removed from the air, you need to empty the water out of the unit as needed, sometimes as often as every two hours, the beeping is a water tank full alarm telling you to empty the tank as per instructions, there is a drain plug on the bottom of the unit you may want to move the unit to a drain until you know the amount of water the tank holds so you know how big of a containor to use

Hi There,
I would like to help you with this but I need some more information.
Is the display showing any error codes?
Is there a red light blinking?

From what I have learned from a technician, with the weather being so hot and humid in most areas it is likely that the water bucket is full.

If this is not the case, please either respond to the questions above and I will look into this further or you can contact our Customer Service department at 1-800-26 Danby for assistance.

Thanks!

E1 CODE ERROR

E1 code for the primary humidity sensor behind right side grill. Unit MUST be unplugged from outlet. Take right side grill out, unplug sensor from wire socket and plug back. If no help, you need new sensor.

Danby Dehumidifier

I dropped the water bucket by accident on the dehumidifier, and I have the same problem. Here what I found :
First, remove the water bucket and find the circuit diagram, it is very useful.

E1 code is related to the room humidity sensor, E2 code is related to the room temperature sensor and E3 code is related to the safety thermistor sensor. If you have one of these error code displayed, you will probably have to replace the sensor.

The humidity and temp sensors are located on the same board. To access it, remove the water bucket and you will see the 2 screws holding the front panel. Remove the screws, then gently prayed the front panel. Be careful, there is two plastic clip on the top of the panel and they are really easy to break. The board is located at the top right, under the cover. The safety thermistor is located on a pipe on the right side of the dehumidifier.
