Do i need anything out of the ordinary to hook up a flat screen monitor to my tower in place of the old style monitor? ive got a cord coming from the flat screen with a 15 pin monitor plug, and then ( on the back of the flat screen) theres a 3 prong plug spot where it looks like an ordinary power cord plugs in ...is this all there is to it?? thanks

That's all you need. Just a standard power cord plus the VGA connector cable. Plug the new monitor into the same spot as the old one.

It would be the one that the monitor cable is attached to. You could try unplugging pc pop card out after taking out the one screw that holds it in place clean contacts with achohol and reseat there is a good chance that the card has malfunctioned but you should also see if you could take the monitor to a freinds house or another pc in the house see if you get dame results. That way at least you can count that out.

My newer flat screen monitor went black but works fine when hooked up to another computer and I have an older monitor that I hooked up and the older one works fine...??

That sounds like a display/resolution setting problem on your PC. I doubt there is anything actually wrong with the PC or the monitor, since both work with different combinations, so its most likely just a setting.

Some monitors don't display anything when they get a signal/resolution that is not compatible with their displays. I would try changing the display settings on your computer with your old monitor, then switch monitors and see if your newer monitor works.

Here's how to adjust the display resolution:
If in XP, right-click on the desktop and go to Properties, and select the tab for display settings and adjust/lower the resolution. If in Vista/Win7 right-click the desktop and select Screen Resolution/Display Settings and adjust it there.

Starlogic 19" flat panel screen won't show anything.

Have you made sure that all the cable connections are screwed in tight?

You could also remove the cable to make sure that none of the pins have become bent out of place.

Your flat screen monitor should have the same connections as your older model, a VGA connection.

I CANT GET MY MONITOR TO TURN ON

It could be the Monitor, the VGA adapter, or the PC itself. If you power on the monitor without anything connected to it, do you ever see anything on the display?

If not, it is probably the Monitor. If yes, it is likely the vga adapter and/or PC.

Blank screen

Hi,
Disconnect the monitor , from the computer, switch the monitor on , if you have some kind of Dell self test box running on the screen. The monitor is OK . The problem can be with the video card or resolution settings.

Also, try connectin the old monitor you had hooked up with the system to check ,if you see anything

Thanks
