Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

I just recently bought the ALPS MD-5000 Printer from Canada on ebay. I also bought a Stepdown transformer as the Printer only holds 110 to 115v plug, I plugged it into the Stepdown transformer I got, when I press the power button, It does bloody nothing, Won't turn on, or anything. The feeback from the seller was 100% Positive, the seller even showed pictures of it working, But for some reason when i bought it, It won't turn on when I got it. what has happened, How can I get it to work?

Have you tested the step down transformer that your purchased? do you have there gadgets there that run in 100v -115v. It could be the transformer is having a problem. Now, if you were able to test the transformer then the problem could be your printer. Check all physical connections especially the connection from the adapter.

The transformer is brand new, And works fine, But I don't know why the printer still won't turn on, the connection plugs are fitted and plugged in properly. But the printer won't go at all.

I see. There is no other troubleshooting for this printer for NO power issue. Other than to bring the printer to the repair department. It must be the shipping and handling that causes this issue. You can also have this coordinated to the seller.

Sending it to the repair department would be good. If you know a best place that repairs it, That would be good. Thanks for the assistance. :)

Power won't turn on

I had a similar problem to this. It turned out that the button on the main circuit board was broken. Take the cover off the printer and look at the main circuit board for any damage. I replaced the broken button and the printer turned on right away. Another option you can try is to replace the entire board if you can find a "parts" printer on ebay.

White ink printing with alps MD 5000

To print white, you need to use the spot color option in the printer properties. The object to be printed must be all black. It seems counter to what you might think, but the spot color mode will print the solid black areas as the selected spot color.

MD5000 to MACBOOK PRO problem

MAC is NOT my forte... however, I do know that ALPS offered THIS a few years after the MD5000 came out:

USB Interface Kit for the iMac OS V8.01 and Windows ($99)

You might find it on ebay etc. and be able to use it (no support with this printer on OS X!).

There aren't any.

You can try the XP drivers if you're using Vista 32, but there is just no way to use these printers on Vista 64

Do you repair Alps MD 5000 printer

Unfortunately, this website is not a repair shop, but I'll give you what help I can....

Printhead problems are not repairable in the US or Europe any longer. You best bet is to upgrade to an MD-5500, which you can find here: http://www.alps-supplies.com
