My compressor is not buildngup air pessure

Most compressors that come into the shop are not reaching cut off pressure. Here are a few tips on determining the problem /s. Three problem areas. Leaks,valves/head gaskets or worn cylinder/rings. Leaks on small compressors are easy to find by spraying soapy water on all connections and drain valves. Also spray on head gaskets. Repair as needed. No joy? Continue with checking valves. Most small compressors have reeds for valves and fail quite easily. There should be good suction at intake opening. Run compressor till no more gain in pressure. With air filter removed and pump running feel for suction at intake. If you feel very little suction or air blowing out of intake , most likely bad reeds or gaskets. If you feel good suction however no gain in pressure then likely worn cylinder. Good luck with repair.

Do i have to down load the doc to pdf download to get a copy of the repair manual for my compressor? mine blows air out the vent filter

If it is a PDF file you will need a PDF reader to open it and view it.If air is coming out your intake filter it sounds like a read valve problem. Pull the head and inspect it. If air is coming out the crankcase filter it is a piston ring problem. How to Rebuild Leaky Air Compressor Part 1

How to remove muffler intake from Porter Cable CPF6020-1 air compressor

To remove the air filter intake muffle you will need to remove the 4 screws that hold the head on to the pump.
There is a O-ring under the head you will want to put a little vasoline on before you reassemble the head back to the pump.

The new muffler kit should be the KK-4981

How dose the unloader work on a T30 compresser ? T30 compresser has small air leak sound comming from intake ? Is there a flow chart of how ther air is compressed T30 ?

There is no unloader on a 2340N5 compressor. However there is a pressure switch that cuts the motor on an off. Located inside of the pressure switch is an air bleeder. When the pressure switch is opened the motor is shut off. A small lever in the pressure switch pushes down on the bleeder valve which lets the air on the compressor head to be released. This allows the the compressor to start up freely. There should be some air heard bleeding off at the pressure switch. If air continues to bleed off all the time the tank check valve is leaking.

If air is leaking back thru the compressor an air leak sound coming from around the air filter (intake) you have a valve leaking allowing trapped pressure to escape thru the air filter (Intake).

I would search the web for a flow chart. I have not seen one.

3gal craftsman horizontal compressor wont build pressure

Without knowing specifics of your unit, If there are three reeds, then two are probably for intake and one for exhaust. Intake reeds should be on the piston side of the valve plate, discharge reed should be on the head side.

There should be a divider in the head side to separate the inlet from the discharge. Make sure the valve plate is turned so that the air from the air filter side goes to the side with the intake valves, and the air from the discharge valve should go to the side with the pipe to the tank.
