How do I find my WEP key? There are two ways of finding a WEP key. The first way is to look on the router itself and on any packaging that came with it when purchased; there may be information on here. The second way is slightly more complex and so for ease of use this has been displayed in numbered stages. This has been tailored for using a Linksys router, and so there may be slight differences in the words if using a different router such as a Belkin.

Steps to find a WEP key:

1. Open a browser (the program used to access the internet). The following process worked for myself when using the Internet Explorer, Firefox and Opera browsers, although I am unsure whether it will work for other browsers (eg Chrome, Safari etc).

2. Type the following into the address bar of the browser. If using a Linksys router type in "192.168.1.1" and if using a Belkin router type "192.168.2.1". The address bar is the area where webpages are typed. It is important when typing in that there is NO http://www. before the numbers.

3. If all has gone well this should open a page that either says Linksys or Belkin.

3. There may be the need to login. When using a Linksys if you don't know what the username and password are it may still be the factory settings, and so enter in "admin" for the username and "password" for the password. If using a Belkin router, the factory settings often come with no password, so just click submit without typing in a password.

4. Click on a) "Wireless" or b) "settings".

5. Click on a) "Wireless security" or b) "wireless settings".

6. There should be a page with a WEP key listed.

7. Write it down/copy and use as you wish!

I don't know my wep key

Either get into the router configuration to get the WEP key, or hack the wep key using aircrack from this guide http://www.askstudent.com/hacking/how-to-crack-a-wep-key-using-ubuntu/ just make sure you have a compatible adapter like a ALFA awusb36H or something with pack injection or you'll just be banging your head against a wall.

What is my WEP hex key?

your 26 digit WEP key will be printed on a label on the 2wire modem.
It's actually 13 HEX digits, but if you don't know what hex is, it's easier to just say it's a 26 digit number.

I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO TYPE IN ON WEP KEY.

The WEP Key is the password that you established on your wireless router when you initially set it up. The DSI cannot access your WiFi without the password.

Your PSP wep key is something your router provides to be able to connect to the internet. If you are connecting from home, then just use the wep key you used to connect your computer wirelessly.

Should you have any questions, please let me know. THank you for using FixYa.

Ps3 wep key

The WEP Key is the Password you used to protect your router. To fix this problem, uninstall your router from your computer and reinstall it. When setting it up, keep everything as default and when it gets to WEP Key, make one up and write it down. Finish installing your router.

***KEY THING IS TO WRITE EVERYTHING DOWN***

On your PS3, go to Network Settings and setup a wireless network. Let it search for your network, put in your custom WEP Key, and let it set up from there. When you enter your WEP Key, before hitting next, if there is an AOSS button on your router (Front/Top button on your router that allows networks to connect) you want to push it prior to moving on so your PS3 is discovered. You should be good to go from there.

Good luck! If i've helped you out please give me a good rating!

Respectfully,

Don

MY SSID IS 2WIRE153 BUT I DON`T KNOW MY WEP KEY

When you purchased the router (or your ISP supplied it to you) you should have received instructions on how to "configure" the router, and to change the SSID (from '2wire153' to something of your choice) and how to create a WEP-key that _only_ you know.

Contact your ISP, and ask them for their Technical Support department.

To add the printer to your wireless network, you need to know the name (SSID)
of your wireless network. If it has security enabled, you also need to know the
WEP key or passphrase. Write down the SSID and WEP key or passphrase below:
■ Network name (SSID): _________________________________________
■ WEP key or passphrase: _________________________________________
Note:
If the WEP key is either 5 or 13 characters, it’s ASCII. If the WEP key is either 10 or 26
characters, it’s hexadecimal. The default WEP key is usually 1.
If your passphrase contains upper- or lowercase letters, be sure to note it correctly.
The printer supports the following wireless security modes: WEP 64, WEP 128, and
WPA-PSK.
If you don’t know your wireless network name (SSID) or WEP key or passphrase,
contact the person who set up your wireless network before you begin.

Insert the printer software CD.
2. Windows Vista®: If you see the AutoPlay window, click Run Epsetup.exe.
When you see the User Account Control screen, click Continue.
Windows® XP: When you see the Software installation screen, continue with
step 3.
Mac OS® X: Double-click the icon.
3. Click Install.

1.Make sure that the printer is turned on.
2. When you see the FireWall Warning screen, click Next.
3.Make sure you connected the Ethernet cable

Securing my wifi network

Hi George,

Simply open your Internet browser, in the address line, inset 192.168.0.1, then:
-> Goto TOOLS

Here you set the administrator password, note that you have to set the same password twice.

Do set some security as well, other vice your neighbor will use your network, - and that you don’t want, as you don’t know what and where he go on the internet.

On page 27 in your manual, you find the way to set the wireless settings.

On page 37 in your manual, you find a way to set MAC address settings. Thise settings allow only those MAC addresses as you put in the table.
You find your own MAC address like this:
->Start->run->write cmd and hit enter; a black DOS window open, write ipconfig /all (note the space before /all). Here you find your MAC address – note that there is two cards in your laptop, and the card you want the MAC address for is the wireless card.
