Yes, I have had this problem. First, I would disable the automatic sync with the iPod and ITunes. You can do this by going into preferences in iTunes. Download the latest version of iTunes by checking for an update. Then click on your iPod in iTunes and restore the iPod to its original setting. This will erase the whole iPod. Then you can sync it with iTunes again. That should fix the problem.

Try to reset the ipod to factory settings. Connect the device and click on it to select it in itunes.
you should get a screen like this. Select restore. Then resync the music, etc.

My ipod goes through the syncing process then says ipod cannot be synced. an unknown error occurred (13019). what can i do to fix it?

Make sure iTunes from your computer is up-to-date. Currently, the latest version is 9.0.3. You should at least have iTunes version 9 to make sure this error doesn't occur.

For detailed troubleshooting guide about this error, click here. That's the official trouble shooting page from Apple to fix this error.

Symptom When restoring or updating an iPod in iTunes 7 or later, you may see a dialog reporting "An unknown error has occurred" followed by the error number 1415, 1417, 1418, or 1428.

Solution
  1. Update iTunes to the latest version and attempt to restore your iPod.
  2. Try connecting your iPod to a different USB port and restore.
  3. Remove any third-party USB devices you have connected to your computer (it is not necessary to remove your keyboard or mouse).
