If you need the particular password then you will have to contact manufacturer for that.

    Set Password
You can protect the unit from unwanted use by enabling a password. Select Password.
Select Set to enter a password. Use the keypad to enter the required password. When you
    have finished, select OK.
Select Confirm to re-enter the password. Use the keypad to re-enter the password exactly
as you entered it the first time. When you have finished, select OK.
Select OK to activate the password. To return to the System Settings menu without setting
    the password, select ESC.
Once the password is enabled, you will be required to enter it when the unit is turned on or when it wakes up from “sleep”
    mode.

    15.3.2 Remove Password

Select Password and use the keyboard to enter the password. When you have finished, select OK. Then, from the Set New
    Password screen, select OK

Check the user guide on page # 84 to remove the password.

Try installing the software again as per the instructions on page # 14, hopefully that should reset the password.

Map not coming. when it plug

If your unit does not power on - at all - it may be a faulty power cord/adapter. If no longer under warranty, you can sometimes find replacement cords on Ebay for around $10-20. If you do get power, sometimes updating the unit (through your computer) will solve the problem. If that doesn't help, the company offers online chat support and a support number, 800-707-9971, to get you going again. Good luck.

I have not used my Magellan Maestro 4040 in quite some time and I charged it today for 4 and 1/2 hours and can not get it to turn on.

Hi davidhcaldwe

the following advice pertains to the following magellan gps systems.

Magellan 800, 860, 2000, 2200t, 2500, 3000, 3050, 3100, 3140, 4000, 4040, 4050 and 6000t

i fix these and many other magellan gps daily so when considering my advice , please understand i do not google my solutions.

assuming your car charger is working (the little green light is on) and your magellan still wont start up after holding the power button while its plugged in for up to ten seconds and still does not start..read below

this is actually a very common problem with these magellan power ports...they are poor quality from the factory and always and i mean always fail..the new ports that you find on ebay are 100% better then the factory port.

if your able to replace that power port yourself, you can get one HERE, if not, ask the fellow that sells them for help.

due to some dubious "experts" on fixya, im not permitted to help you directly, but please follow the link above to get further help.

let me know if you need more help or info

This Magellan does not list a model #. It was received as a gift 2 years ago. The printed circut board is broken where the poer cords connects to the unit. Is it worth repair and how much would it...

you need to figure out the model number...if its one like the one pictured in your question, then yes it can be repaired if the circut board itself isnt damaged...the ports are available on ebay for about twelve dollars.

I have a legacy item (Roadmate 800). The battery was dead so I ordered a new one. The new battery powers on the unit but when I plug in ac charger I don't get a solid orange light, but a flashing green...

This is very common problem with this and many model of magellans.

Try the car charger.

Make sure
green light is on the car charger and let it plugged in for awhile, then hold the power button (up to ten seconds) until it starts..if that fails

The following Magellan 2000, 2200t, 2500, 3000, 3100, 3140, 3000, 3050, 4000, 4040, 4050, 5310 and the 6000 are known to have faulty dc connectors...if your Magellan
gps is not charging or will not power up, its most likely the dc power port...

You can
buy the port or get it repaired, HERE

if the links dont work or If you need further help, just let me know.

UPDATE MAPS ON MY MAGELLAN

According to Magellan at their website, a new map update will be available next month (sometime). There is a firmware update there now.  The firmware update works fine if you follow their instructions.....full battery charge etc.
