My wall mount propane heater sputters and won't fire up when I turn the knob to on

this quote is taken from site below under Problem Identification.

If the burner sputters on ignition or takes more time to ignite, there is definitely a blockage of the pilot orifice by dirt and dust. Set the pilot at a higher level and clean the orifice along with the burner ports.

Small Pilot flame on MrHeater MHBF20lpt & pilot won't stay on.

You will probably need to remove the pilot orifice and clean it out use a small needle or orifice cleaning rod. The pilot flame is not big enough to keep the thermocouple engaged.

Flame flickers and jumps it will stay lit for a while then just puffs out

The pilot assembly probably has dust in it. With the unit off and cool, use a drinking straw and blow across the opening of where the pilot light flame lights. Do not blow directly into the pilot opening, as the dust will only become more lodged in the orfice. By blowing across the top of the opening, the moving air will 'vacuum' the dust up and out allowing a more staedy blue pilot light to engage the thermocouple. You may have to repeat this processa couple times depending on how much dust is in the opening. These OPD pilots are very sensitive.

Why does a pilot light go out?

You either have a bad thermocouple, or the pilot flame is not engaging the top 1/3 of the thermocouple. If the problem is with a space heater with an ODP valve, there may be dust in the pilot causing a yellow lazy pilot flame. These are very sensitive and will go out moments after lighting if that is the case.

My hot water heater won't engage at all.

Sounds like the pilot light is not staying lit, provided you have one. The pilot light is used to keep the gas valve open by way of the thermocouple/switch. When the pilot light goes out the thermocouple cools down and shuts the supply of gas off to the water heater burner. It is not unusual for a thermocouple to go bad at which point it needs to be replaced. The thermocouple is the small rod that sits in or close to the pilot light flame. There is a small copper tube that runs from it up to the gas valve on the outside of the tank. This is where you control the temperature of the water as well as light the pilot light. If you are not experienced in dealing with hot water heater gas supplies, you should get professional help.

Pilot and Burner shut off at same time at various run times.

sounds like your pilot saftey is working.the pilot flame heats a device called a thermacoupler which gives a signal to the gas valve letting it know its ok to open main valve. you may need a new thermacouple , might have a dirty pilot orfice or a problem with gas pressure or worse case a cracked heat exchanger in any case in less you have some type of training you should call a pro

Comfort glo propane ventless heater won't light

I have several of these heaters in my rent houses and love them. The most problem I have is not being able to ignite the pilot with the user control igniter. Remove the screws that hold the front cover in place along with the front cover. Hold the pilot control down and ignite with a lighter. Keep the pilot engaged until thermocouple is warm enough to keep pilot gas flowing. If it will light this way then you need to blow out the pilot orifice. It seems that every year I have to go in after the summer season when the heater is off and clean the pilot/orifice lines with high pressure air. I believe spiders/bugs/dust block pilot orifice when it is not in use. You can also tell that orifice is blocked when you don't get a good blue pilot flame with pressure behind it allowing the flame to submerse the thermocouple. If the the thermocouple is not getting enought heat it will turn pilot gas off for safety reasons.
