Question about Olevia LT42HVi 42 in. LCD Television
Above is a user manual, below is a Training manual, this is what we use to train the engineers to troubleshoot and repair, it will give you insight into what you are dealing with.
Usually when this happens it is the audio amplifier IC, however this is not always so. There are many many things that can cause the same SYMPTOM, we always have the symptom, and the cause. Most often, there is a damaged component(s) and what "Caused" that damage. I have looked for a service manual, as without this manual, it is nearly impossible to effect a repair. accordingly I recommend that you seek professional advice please.
So, it is nearly always my professional opinion that one should always get a "Quote" from the manufacturers recommended service center, Olevia, in your case, please contact a local or head office and ask for a referral to an Authorised service center. I cannot stress how important that last point is. It is even worth the cost of shipping. You see an authorised service agent, will have trained staff, trained on their brand, also they have first hand access to parts, original parts. This will actually save you money and ensure you can actually get it back fixed. Of course asking for a "Quote" also gives on the option of repair or replace. Often my clients,do not go through with repair, unless it is moderate, but in some of the more costly jobs they see it, as do i, that a replacement, with a warranty, is a better option. As an aside here, one could then tear the TV down, and sell the Known Good bits. You'd be surprised who needs parts, i myself often must by from third party sources to effect a repair. So money could be recouped, somewhat, and help out someone else.

Thanks for using FixYa. Please check the audio with a DVD player or cable box. Also try using component cables if using a RCA component cable or vice versa. Check that all of the cables are plugged into the back of the TV & MUTE button is not pressed. Do a hard reset by unplugging the power cord for more than 4 hours and power it again, then go into the on-screen-menu and make sure the sap is off and stereo in on. Also try audio from Phone and 3.5mm jacks (if equipped). If this all didn't resolves the issue then it is an Audio IC or bad speakers/speaker connection. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved else post a comment for further assistance.

HERE'S THE ANSWER TO YOUR PROBLEM:
There are times that TV sound problems does not require you to call for a technician. Some TV sound problems are just easy to repair, and you can just do it yourself. Try to do this one:
1. Press the "Mute" button on the remote control or press the "Volume Up" button. The most common cause of no sound is accidental use of the television's "Mute" function.
2. Make sure the speaker source switch on the back of the television is switched to "Int" if you are using the television's speakers and "Ext" if using surround sound. If not set properly, you will not hear the television sound.
3. Access the television's equalizer by pressing the "Menu" button, selecting "Sound" and then "Equalizer." A list of sound options will appear on the screen. Use the up and down arrow buttons to select the option you want to adjust, and the right and left arrow buttons to make adjustments to the option. You should use this method of adjusting the sound settings if the audio output is in some way unusual.
4. Check the surround sound speaker wires and make sure they are secured to the audio jacks on the back of the television. In addition, ensure that the surround sound speakers are powered on.
If it does not work still. Contact your service provider. Thanks...
