Mower deck PTO switch will engage when pulled but stop when rele

I have a Yard Man, model 131684G. I pull up on the PTO toggle switch and the deck engages but when I let go the deck shuts off. I can hold the switch up and the blades will run but stop as soon as I release the switch.

I replace the switch already and the new switch did the same thing. Unless I got a faulty switch.

The PTO switch has failed. There is an internal spring and plastic parts in toggle switches that keep them in the actuated position. It's not practical to take the switch apart to fix it, but replacement switches are readily available - probably $12 - $20. It's a good idea to disconnect the negative terminal from the battery before you do any electrical work. Be sure to put the wires on the corresponding terminals of the new switch. Good luck! Please rate if you find this helpful, thanks.

Sorry that did not solve your problem. It doesn't seem likely that the new switch is faulty in the same way. A 'magnetic' switch might act that way -- it 'drops out' if proper voltage isn't present in a circuit -- but I haven't seen those used on lawn tractors. Does the switch look like this one?

Where is the PTO switch?

The switch is on the dash bezel, the electric clutch is on the deck. Some clutches can be adjusted but I need the model number of your mower first.

Pto won't engage after it had stalled out when in reverse

Did you take it out of reverse? You need too look closer at the linkage and at wear it gos, look for the switch on the trans mission, it going to work one of two ways positive or negative if it work from ground unplug it and see if it will work, if it doesn't try running a wire from one side of the connector to complete the circuit .

Hello, Ask your local Mower shop if they show a Thermal switch for the PTO. You may have to replace it or move it away from the heat.

Blades will not engage, belt not broke but is very old, do I need new one?

Check if the belt is loose. With the engine off, try to pull the mower deck belt around by hand. If you can pull it easily, and the blades don't turn, then replace the belt. If it's hard to pull, and you can see the blades try to turn as you pull it, then your problem probably isn't the belt, but the PTO clutch or mower engage switch.

Most mowers have a safety interlock to prevent starting when the PTO is engaged so it sounds normal.

My electric PTO on my Husqvarna Model YTH180 does not engage

I'm having same problem. I think it's the switch, Running the system reads 14.6 volts. pull the switch No power to the lead that goes to PTO. if I jump 12v to the clutch the PTO engages fine. also changed the relay. Just wondering if there may be some other safety switch I may be missing? Hopefully it's just the switch. I dont know the likelyhood of those going bad the mower has tractor has 500 hours on it and looks damn near new.

Cub cadet Z Force 48 inch zero turn blades won't engage

I hope this will help you...under the side panels on each side of the mower, there are "reverse lockout safety switches", they are supposed to stop the blades when both handles are pulled back. If one or both of the switches are out, the deck will not engage. Also, under the right side panel (when sitting on seat) there should be 3 relay switches, the one closest to the motor controls the PTO., if this is out, the PTO will not engage.
