Question about Philips GoGear HDD6330 MP3 Player

1 Answer

Fixed screen, battery went!

Hello,
I replaced the screen of my hdd6320 according to your instructions (thank you very much!) - but I must have done something wrong. Now it won't hold a charge. The battery icon changes erratically between the plug, the filling-up battery, and the battery with a lightning flash on it. I guess I've left a connection loose - before I take it apart again, could you give me a hint what to look for?
Thanks very much, Ben

The battery is connected (I thought of that one before I posted the message even!) so I guess I've clumsily damaged the circuit myself. Bugger.

Thanks a lot for your help anyway.

There is a single plug with 3 connections for the battery. It can be accessed simply by removeing the back cover. (Don't forget to remove the 2 screws either side of the usb/charging connector first)

If the battery is not connected, then re-connect it.

Unfortunately, the batteries rarely fail on this model. Usually, a charging fault is caused by a faulty charge circuit on the main board.

    You're welcome.

You probably didn't damage the board yourself, it's a known problem with the HDD63X0 range.

Actually a HDD6320

The HDD6320 is not compatible with Windows Media Player 11.
You will need to uninstall Media Player 11, to roll back to version 10.

Also, it is not compatible with Windows Vista.

If you haven't already, install the Philips Device Manager from the product CD.

Connect the HDD6320 to the mains and PC.

Select the repair/restore option and follow the on-screen prompts.

If the HDD6320 is still not recognised, let me know if the player shows the connection icon on-screen, and I'll try to help further.

I dropped my HDD6320 philips mp3 player and it registered as having no songs on it, but when I synchronized it with my pc they are all on it. I want to clean it completely and reinstall all the music. ...

Sounds like the file list is corrupt on the player. This means that the player ignores the files, because it doesn't scan the drive on start up, it only reads the file list.

Formatting the HDD6320 is straight forward:

Install and run the Philips Device Manager software from the product CD. The software is only compatible with Windows XP.

Connect the player, and wait for Device Manager to recognise it.

Select the Repair / Restore option and follow the on-screen prompts.

This will format the player and re-load the system files.

If you don't have the CD, it can be downloaded here:
