Question about HP Pavilion F1703 17" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Monitor display now has a blue background and is difficult to read. There was a power surge several months ago that fried my printer and burnt out my HP as10n desktop power supply and I have replaced them.

This model use external power supply so the damage will usually limited to the power supply itself, check all the pins at both end of the VGA cable, also try it on another PC.

I have a memory frame, modle mf-810. I received it 3-4 years ago, I think. It's worked wonderfully until about 2 months ago when we had a power surge. Is this a power cord problem? or is the frame...

a power surge may have fried it if you don't have a breaker switch on the plug that you plug your power supply into. The only way to really determine is to connect your photo frame into a second power supply if you have one to see if it works. I found out the hard way to always have a circuit breaker for my computer units after a power out fried my computer hard drive.

Check all the cables, if it is not the cables being loose, then it is a component inside that is starting to fail.

HP laserjet m2727nf will not start up

I had this problem. You need to do a cold reset. To do this turn the machine off. Hold down the 6 and the # on the fax pad. Keep holding these keys down and turn machine on. After about a half a minute let the buttons go. It should do a reset. It may take up to 25 minutes to do this however my took less than one minute

Screen is blank.

Could have blown some capacitors inside the monitor.
I just fixed one today that had no power, the blue ring around the power button didn't even light up when plugged in.
I open it and found 3 bulgingcapacitors on the power/inverter board.
They were all 25V 470uF rated capacitors.
Went to radioshack and found 2 35V 470uf, got them at $1.29 each, then I found 1 50V 470uF out of a dc car power adapter for an ipod, it was as close as I could find.
Replaced the 3 broken/bulging ones with the new/salvaged ones, put it back together, plugged it in and the blue light came on when I pushed the power button.
Plugged it in to my laptop with vga cable, and it works great.

On the back side unscrew everything you can unscrew, then using flat screwdriver with 1/4" wide blade try to disconnect halves of plastic case, there are plastic fixers over the edges, inside, so try to not brake them all :)
Next, you will need to unscrew metal cover inside to get access to the PCBs. If monitor was killed by surge, most likely you will see what is fried there. Check fuse on the PCB.

Power problem?

Fried...and not usually worth replacing since the printer is an inkjet. Be sure you are surge protecting both the phone and power if you are using this to FAX.
