Question about Frigidaire GLTF1670A Front Load Washer
Re: Frigidaire front load washer # FWT449GFS1
I opened the front door of my washer and a part fell on the floor. It was the door lock latch. I got another one and installed it. When I close the door and turn on the machine, the lock light comes on and the door latches, but the washer will not start. I note that if I put pressure on the door with my hand, i.e. close it tighter, the washer activates and begins to fill. The problem is that if I release the pressure, it stops again.
My guess is that it is the expensive door lock assembly. I am reluctant to call a repair guy because of expense. If I get a new one, how do I get to the old one to r&r it? I have never had a washer apart, but am somewhat handy with tools.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: Door Rattles
Get the rubber door boot loose, reach inside to where the door latch is and remove the 2 screws holding it in. Then put the screw back in but add a washer on the inside before you screw it back into the latch. Do this on both screws and it will set the latch further in the thickness of the washers. If one doesn't work you can try 2 but make sure the door can still lock or the unit won't run.

Could be rubber door boot needs replacing. I am in the midst of replacing mine because door won't stay closed and buzzer sounds till I hold in door.

Check to see that the switch is actully being activated when door is closed. I wiggled the door upward to notice the machine started working. I then wedged a piece wood or wooden pencil in the botton of the door crack and that caused the switch to activate.
Switch is okay but the door alignment needed to be fixed.
