How can I get rid of burnout on my tv - Projection Televisions

    The color isn't bright like it used to be. Maybe the color tubes need to be replaced???? Also, after the t.v. has been on for a while,it makes a humming/buzzing sound. We shut off the t.v. for a few minutes and it goes away...but is this normal after 8 years??? Thank you for your time.

Whats the model number? If its projection you will have to replace all 3 tubes but I know a source who has used picture tubes all in good working order where you can maybe get all 3 for less than what you would pay for 1 new one

There was a pop and then my tv picture went black there is sound but no picture

Most likely the pop sound was the loss of your lamp module, due to normal burnout, causing immediate loss of video without affecting audio.
You'll want to do an internet search to price a new lamp for your projection TV.

Here's a YouTube video how-to describing lamp replacement for a Sony Wega Projection TV:

Replacing the lamp module on a LG Projection TV, model 44SZ61D

Vacuum out any dust that is in the Lamp compartment.Do not touch the lamp with your hands or fingers. Use a cloth or gloves. The oil from your skin will cause the lamp to prematurely burnout.Similar to handing a Halogen Lamp.

C4075 burnout.

Good day, javiquez;
The cap C407S that you burnt in the TV is in the circuit that feeds the G-2 to the CRT's. So, it makes sense that your picture quality has suffered. Here is the information on the failed cap and other part I would recommend changeing:
1. C407S; part number 2201-000406; description; c-ceramic,disc; 270 pf, 10%, y5p, 2 kv (2000 volts).
2. D402; part number 0402-00586; description; APIH, 2 kv, 1 a (amp).
Hope this was helpful, good luck, big IRISH.
