Question about Optimus STA-3500 Receiver
The right channel on my Optimus STA-3500 receiver is not working properly. It does not output to my speakers. If I shake the receiver/wiggle wires/just mess with it, i can sometimes hear noise trying to get through to my speaker but with little success. This happens with both A and B speaker outs.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

SOURCE: Only 2 channels working
If your new reciver does not have a turntable input, you can purchase a phono preamp and simply plug the turntable into the preamp and the output of the preamp to an aux or tape input of the new reciver. they should have it or be able to get it at radio shack. Or look up online or build one as I had to do as im a cheap skate, but I know what I have now..Check this out. i included the preamp i built so i can still use my collection of vinal with my surround sound system. Good luck and please dont forget to rate this thread.

SOURCE: My Optimus STA 3190 has no AM/FM
The fact that you are getting static at least is good. Without knowing allot of the background to your problem, first thing to check is if the aerials are correctly connected. If it is any help to you, here is an excerpt from the original owners manual about the connection of the AM loopstick.
If the aerials are coinnected right, then let me know and we can investigate other options. Cheers

You can not "reset" protection mode. This is an indication of a defect. Disconnect the speaker wires completely and if the protection mode remains, then the problem is internal to the unit and is likely to be shorted output transistors. Expect a parts cost in the $20-$50 range for this repair.

I have the same receiver, but have been unable to program it with my Universal Code. I do not have the original remote. Did you find a code that controlled it? I found one website that had the owners manual online, maybe that would help: http://support.radioshack.com/support_audio/doc58/58124.htm
