Question about DISH Network IR Remote Control

1 Answer

I have 2 set tops hookup through a Audio Authority AVM-562 matrix switch using the IR pass thru. The remote works some what on one machine and not at all on the other. The remote however controls the other sources in the system no problem at all. Any ideas why the satellite boxes cannot be controlled?

Has the remote worked on the receiver any time in the past or has it never worked? Does the remote work if not connected to the switch? You my need to readdress the remote to the receiver depending on the answers to these questions. I hope this helps.

Hi, I'm having trouble to get the volume to work on a Bose LS50 system. I'm using a Harmony 880 and an Audio Authority C-1024 to convert the IR to RF for the Bose.

Try by setting the remote control with an other set-up code said for your device. Set-up (Programming) procedure is too much to type in here, and is not practical and it will differ brand-to-brand remote controls. If you wish to get more; check the sites linked here. The site has set-up code list & set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. The site has general set-up codes to check with TVs and other devices are given, in the order of the 'device's brand name list' in alphabetical order. Set-up code list to many brand remote controls also is given. Pull up older posts. Search the sites by type in the brand name to your device in its search box at the top right part of the display window. It will help you to find the document easily.

Programming Notes
• If your device does not respond to the remote after trying all codes listed or your brand is not listed in the code list, use the Auto Code Search method to program your remote.
• Sometimes the first code that "works" with your device may operate only a few functions of your device. There may be another code in the code list that performs more functions. Try other codes from the code list for more functionality.
This is a trial and error procedure; and quiet time consuming. You might have to check different codes said for your device.
Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device; in the "Search box at the top right of the display window" to get gathered related posts.

Use a Hyper terminal, Hercules SETUP utility is user friendly for this. Attach a Serial cable to the unit (straight through cable not null modem) or use a USB to serial cable.

Polk Audio DSW Pro 500 remote doesn't"t work. I've tried replacing the battery and was told by another technician to take the sub-woofer out and make sure the cable is plugged up to the amp and the IR...

Is this NEW? Or did it just fail spontaneously after working for awhile?

Is this just a remote control issue or is the sub dead, too?

From the manual...

No sound coming from subwoofer.

If hookup is "SUB OUT" to LFE, check and make sure your receiver is set to Subwoofer=YES. If hookup is via speaker wire, check that the polarity of the wires is correct.

Subwoofer has no power.

Is the AC MAIN switch on? Check outlet; check fuse after unplugging the subwoofer. The fuse is located under the power cord
receptacle. Fuse type and rating is found on the back panel.

Remote control doesn't work.

Remove the plastic tab to activate the remote control's battery or try replacing the battery. Ensure the IR sensor is not blocked.

If it's a new problem with a previously working remote...

Find new or replacement remotes:

or eBay: search for "(model) remotes", check the 'include description' box. Usually cheaper than the vendors.

Can we use the subwoofer as an amplifier for speakers? it has jacks for speaker in/out, but i can't figure out how to make it work because the speakers have no sound.

I don't believe this hookup is amplified; but, if you have used the regular unfiltered speaker connections from your receiver/amplifier to hookup the subwoofer, the system will pass the signal thru the outputs subject to the crossover adjustment on the back panel. You cannot get the full signal if your system is sending only the bass signal to the subwoofer. I have copied the instructions below from the manual. You would set the high freq crossover to the low end of your satellite's frequency range. The full manual is here: http://www.jbl.com/EN-US/Products/Pages/ProductSupportDetails.aspx?PID=PSW-D110

High-Pass Control
• If you hooked up your subwoofer
as shown in Hookup
3 on page 4, you also have
the capability of adjusting
the high-pass frequency.
The High-Pass control
determines the frequency at
which the main speakers
will start reproducing
sounds. If your main speakers
can comfortably reproduce
some low-frequency
sounds, also set this control
to a lower frequency
setting, between 50Hz –
100Hz. This will concentrate
the subwoofer’s
efforts to the ultradeep
bass sounds, while your
main speakers continue to
reproduce the mid-bass
information. If you are
using smaller bookshelf
speakers that do not extend
to the lower bass frequencies,
set the high-pass crossover
control to a higher setting,
between 125Hz – 180Hz.
With this setting, your main
speakers will not have the
burden of reproducing any
low-frequency sounds.
• If you hooked up your subwoofer
as shown in Hookup
1 on page 3, the high-pass
frequency is fixed at 180Hz.
• If you hooked up your subwoofer
as shown in Hookup
2 on page 4, there is no
high-pass control. Unless
your receiver/amplifier
incorporates a high-pass
crossover, your main speakers
will continue to get a
full-range signal.
Final adjustment and blending
of the low-pass and high-pass
controls may evolve over several
listening sessions. A good
starting point would be to set
both the low- and high-pass
controls to the same frequency
and adjust from that point.

The Micro switches are leaky. They are soldered on the control panel in the front. Either replace the panel or the switchs. You can test this by unsoldering all the switchs and leaving the IR Sensor. You can control the set by using the remote remote . If this help let me know.
