From what it sounds like, you are looking at replacing one of two things. inside your screen is a backlight. depending on what type, (chemical tube or led, more often then not its a chemical tube they go quickly) number two item is your inverter. the inverter supplies the power to your backlight, usually located under the screen, attached to the metal frame of the screen(you have to remove the plastic framing) in other cases your inverter will be integrated into the motherboard, or it will be plugged into the motherboard. if its integrated, buy a new laptop as the motherboard will almost cost the same as the laptop. unless you want to risk damaging the screen to try and replace the backlight, i would go ahead and suggest looking up ebay for a inverter for your screen. you have no battery but you are plugged in directly. with this case i want to say its the inverter. but you need to know if its A) under the screen B) integrated C) on the mobo but not integrated. with A) you have a good chance of easily replacing it. with B) buy a new laptop. with C) you have to remove the faceplate with your plastic power button stuff and leds above the keyboard to access the keyboard screws. remove the keyboard and the inverter will be on the top left of the motherboard.

I'm driving a chevrolet aveo 2010 . In the middle of no where last night it went dim than to dark. It was runing ok this all time. Only sign shown was the engine. Didn't show any sign of battery.

well the battery is now dead (or only discharged !)
cause #1 ALT/Gen replaces WRONG, see here 10,000 times. more www.

driving a car the ALTERNATOR produces all Electrical power.
100amps x 13v is 1300watts, and runs ALL>
when it dies the battery is sucked dry/dead/ discharged.

1; remove neg lug from battery or BOOM (100amp fuse BLOWN)
2; remove ALT
3: new one back connected same.
4: battery NEG lug back
bingo no BOOM.!
every SM manual of every car tells that;.

you said didn't want to start
but I guess you meant starter is dead, or clicks only or will not spin fast as it must.

the 15mins is dead accurate, for 50 years driving seen this happen
as ALT goes dead at night,
in the day engine runs 30min to 1hour dead ALT , HEADS off

the blow fuse is just bay fuse
or worse, a fuseable link, oddity not fun to fix. ever.
thus step 1,

no engine told but let me look on uSA car thjis.
2010 not AVEO5

there it is but what it looks like, hummmmmm

Why does my monitor die (it goes black) when I remove the adapter even if the battery is 100% fully charged?

Try going into your control panel, and resetting the options for your display.
Mine works this way...click Start button lower left corner of screen.
Type the word display in the search box. that will open a window that will allow you to decide when the display can be turned off.
If that doesnt get you to display settings try pushing Start button,Find the Control Panel button and clck it.Find Mobile PC, or Power Options. If you find Mobile PC click it, then find Power Options.on the left side is a caption that allows you to dicide when to turn off the display. Hope it helps

IBM Thinkpad R51, screen went dark. At the right screen angle, I can see some light from the windows and cursor, but very faint. At that light angle I can maneuver the mouse and click on windows, so all...

The problem
1 The LCD screen is out or
2 The invertor board behind the LCD screen is out or
3 The backlite is out

You have 2 options
1 To use an external monitor for the time or
2 get the laptop fixed by a tech shop

While using my gps 12, the screen suddenly went dark with just a narrow border of lit screen. batteries good. I can faintly see the pages behind the dark screen.

it turns out I inadvertently adjusted the screen contrast. This is adjusted by holding the left arrow key down after powering up, until the contrast is corrected. If the screen was completely white, holding the right arrow key down after powering up would bring contrast back into balance.

Dark screen on power...ok on battery ?

This could be 1 of 2 problems, or both. The power adapter may need replacing and/or the battery will need to be replaced. If you use the battery a lot you may have reached the 300 recharge cycle limit. New components can be spendy if they are not still under warrenty. Call your Tech support to see what they have to say. If the warrenty is expired you might consider purchasing the replacement on ebay. Otherwise, do some comparison shopping.

Toshiba Satellite a215-s7437 will not boot at all - black screen

I think I have the answer you are looking for.  Plug your laptop into an external monitor. Once you do that you need to set your power/performance settings to high performance. It is  turning the display off because some of the processing needed to display images are not available when not in high performance. I hope this helps, let me know how you make out,
Good luck.
