I had the same problem and I took the little screws out and let it dry out. It works intermittantly now. To get it to work, I pressed the menu and cancel buttons at the same time. You can see the laser selectoron the right moving up and down when you do that. I pressed playback on my PC and it started working at least for now. I can transfer the video to my PC now.

You can fix this problem with ccd replacement. you can fid fast all cameras lcd on ebay international seller.
one camera lcd have one cost from 20 to 40 euro to the usa ebay seller you can find the lcd to a cheap price. to the china seller you can find it to more cheap price...but if the uk custom is stycktly with china product...is better that you buy in usa.
the lcd changement is a professional fixer. but in any model this fixing is not particolay difficult. so you can see any of my video or of other professional fixer on you tube.
go in you tube and write " display umtausch" if you are luscky you can find the changement of you exact model.. or you can have a idea...if you think that is possible to make this fixing alone.
this is my last post...why unfortunately my english is not so good to help al the persona there have problems. i am sorry for all the other person. paolo rimini italia

I forgot one thing. what I said is true if the camcorder lets you see
the playback on other media. PC, for example. but you can not see on the
screen of your camcorder. because even if you do not see the video registered with other media , then the problem is more serious

it s probably that the lcd is broken..
you can change the lcd alone if you have confidence with elettronic jobs.
it is not so dificult. the lcd can you find with the exact number and name of your camcorder...on ebay international seller. buy the lcd , and later look on you tube write the model of you camera and lcd umtausch
ex dcr-hc26 lcd umtausch if you are lucky you can find a experience on video of the changing of lcd on your camera.if you not find your exact model...you can see very mutch videos that explain the lcd changement of other camcorder.... but the canging system of one lcd is similar...
sorry for my bad english i hope to have help you.. one lcd cost at 20 to 35
euro if you work alone can have significant savings. not so simple,But you can do it

How to record and play back

Just follow instructions of masnual to set your MP3 player in "record" mode.
Anything you record is saved in a folder. To play back, select thet particular folser and play bach what you recorded.
Normally MP3 recorders use some kind of "DATE" notation, indicating in filename the date and time you made the recording.

I do not know how to use it, i have the manual, but i do not find it

The recorder takes 2 AAA batteries. Press Menu/Folder (on the right above the jogdial (Stop, Rewind, Fast Forward, Play)) to select the folder to add a new recorded item. (The folders are A,B,C, or S. Folder S will come up with a date and you can select another date for the recording.) Folders A, B and C can hold 100 files each; Folder S has 365 dates which can hold 15 items each.

Press and hold the Menu/Folder button for a second or longer. The Screen should show the Mode menu. Press Play and then the Fast Forward and Rewind buttons to set the recording quality. HQ is the high quality recording and will fill up the available storage on the organizer more rapidly. LP will record for the longest period.

Set the Microphone sensitivity by pressing and holding Menu/Folder. Then press the Fast Forward or Rewind button until Mic appears on the display. Then press Play and use the Fast Forward or Rewind buttons to select Low or High sensitivity. (An external mic often gives better results.)

Once you have set the folder for the next recording and the recording quality and microphone sensitivity, press Rec (center above the jogdial) to start recording. Press Stop to end the recording or Rec to pause it. (It will stop if the Pause is longer than 10 minutes.) Press Display to see how much longer you can record before using up the available storage space.

To play back a record, locate the item in the folder then press Play.

The manual for the Olympus VN-1800 is available from the Olympus support site: http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/cpg_support_manuals.asp?id=841 . The direct link to the English version of the manual is http://www.olympusamerica.com/files/oima_cckb/VN-900_VN-1800_VN-3600_Instructions_EN.pdf .

I hope this helps.

Most cameras have the option of turning the date and time display off or on during recording. Unfortunately, if you recorded with the date and time on, then it has become part of the image and can not be removed.

Lost LCD Screen

You MAY just have a dirty playback head. Purchase a head cleaning tape (Bestbuy, Target, etc., for about $20) and try cleaning your playback head. Colored lines is ONE symptom of a dirty head. A blue screen is ANOTHER. I had that symptom yesterday (9/7/07), got a cleaning tape and solved the problem. I can now again see on the LCD display what I recorded on the tape. Good luck.

Sony F55 Recorded Display

The filename (e.g. DSC0012.jpg) shows the image number, the filespec shows the date and time recorded. Most software will give you document info about resolution of the image. I wouldn't worry about what the battery status was when the shot was taken or how many other images were on the Mstick. I guess I'm not sure what you need.
