YES, this system relys on pressure and the ionic nature of gasonline to pull the fuel through the system. If the gas cap is off or damaged where a seal is no longer possible, try taping it up with duct tape and see if that helps

taping up the bare hole that is

or just hold your hand of the hole and see what happens.....

its all about trial and error, taking what you know to be true and going from there

We know that the system does rely on pressure created from the burning fuel to pull in more, and that you have tried the carberator, the only other thing i could think of would be a bad choke stuck open

Gas Trimmer will not stay started

Many times with a gas mix, after sitting for a while, the mix separates and gums up the carb. Taking the carb off and soaking it overnight in a parts or carb cleaner and running carb cleaner through the tank and gas lines will cure this.

My trimmer will start for a few seconds running only from the primer blub but will not continue to run from the main gas line. I can see that it is not drawing gas from the main gas line.

take the carb off then pull it apart and thoroughly clean every hole and part with carb cleaner, make shure you you clean the neddle valve and there is no biuld up on the floats. also mak sure there isn't any holes in the floats an in the diafram

Will cut off after five min of running .does it need a new coil

Check gas cap first for vent being plugged as this will create a vacuum in the tank and prevent fuel delivery. Test when problem occurs by immediately loosening cap and retightening to see if restarts right away you might even hear air going into the fuel tank.
If it doesn't restart, possible coil. Coils are usually affected by the increase of heat when running having too high resistance in the electrical windings or possible moisture.

My hedge trimmer will not start... Put in new gas

It's not getting gas, due to being gummed up with old gas. Remove all of the old gas and mix up a batch of fresh gas&oil. Also get some carb cleaner. Put just a little of the gas&oil mix plus an equal part carb cleaner. Try to start it just to work the new mixture through the carb. You might use the spray start to help pull the new gas through. If it fires up on the new gas&oil&carbcleaner mix, shut it off and let it sit for an hour or two. Drain it out and try just a little gas&oiil without the carb cleaner. If all is well fill the tank. If not, repeat the whole process. If you can't clear the gum this way you may have to remove the carb to clean it. Good luck.

remove the gas can carefully the pulsa primer carburetor sits on top. Once you remove the tank open the cap and pour out the gas. THen carefully unscrew the five screws holding the carb on. Carefully lift the carb up leaving the gasket in place and clean the small 4 chambered bowl with starter fliud. Replace all parts put gas in it, push the primer until you see gas squirt into carb then pull the handle.

Cuts out after 10 minutes

Sounds like fuel tank vent problem , air has to get into tank
sometimes its vented by fuel cap but a lot of hedge trimmers use
a duck bill valve right thru tank or hooked to hose .
To test if this might be the problem loosen gas cap when it starts to die .
good luck
