Question about LG LDF6920ST Stainless Steel 24 in. Built-in Dishwasher

1 Answer

My 2-year-old LG Dishwasher doesn't clean the dishes well any more. It used to work great, I was very happy with it. For some unknown reason it doesn't work that way any more. The dishes come out dirtier then they were before I put them in. I had three guys come in and look at it and they all said that there is nothing wrong with my dishwasher. My water heater is 1 year old, works great everywhere else in the house, the dishwasher is hooked up the right way, by a professional, I don't have hard water, I use the reocmmended amount of soap, and the water temperature is above the recommended average. I've always thought the water in the dishwasher, after it went in, was heated by it, and the dishes were washed in HOT water. Now, after the water goes in and touches the cold dishes, after awhile, it just becomes luke warm. The guy told me that the heater is fine and the LG dishwashers do not heat up the water. But I swear, I remember opening it before in the middle of a cycle and super hot steam would hit me in the face. It's not like that anymore, the water is barely warm. These guys from LG said they have no clue what the problem is and they do not know what to do. I paid a lot of money for that thing and even bought a 3 year extended warranty, and they don't know what the problem is! If anyone has any ideas, PLEASE let me know. I want my dishes to be clean. I don't know what else to do... Thank you very much!!!!

I have had the same problem!!! They have sent several technicians from LG and from independent companies. They replaced all the parts including the pump and mother board. Still not working right. I litterally have to wash all my dishes by hand and have only been using it as a "2hr" sanitizer... My baby's bottles come out looking worse than I put them in. I was told by the LG tech that they have had this prob with this unit and they usually just replace the entire washer. He also said he was submitting my washer to be replaced but it was during the week my 1 yr warranty ended and I had purchased the extended warranty. So now LG sent it off to the warranty company. They had another tech look at it and told me I have hard water and the water tank is too far away from the unit. I have tested my water it's hardness is acceptable and my 100 gallon hot water tank is less than 10 ft away. I am so bummed out about this because I feel like try are just writing me off. I paid a lot of money for this washer and I looooved it when it worked! It was amazing. But now I basically use it for a drying rack..

First I would run the hot water until hot. Then start the dishwasher on the longest setting with the dispenser door closed( no detergent). Then after about 10-15 minutes open the door and check to see if the dispenser door opened, it should have. Then pour in about 1 cup of white vinegar and let the dishwasher finish. When the dishwasher reaches the end of the cycle open the door and it should be hot and steamy. If not check the heating element. If it is hot this should have cleaned it out, now try it with a load of dishes.

Dishes have filmy finish

hello. this will help a great deal.

First of all empty out your dishwasher, toss in two cups of plain white or cider vinegar and run it on the highest and longest cycle.

Always run the hot water in the sink first and start the dishwasher only when the water is as hot as it will get.

This wash will clean out your dishwasher thoroughly.

Then always do your dishes after you have rinsed any residue off of them before placing them in the dishwasher and I always recommend the pot scrubber cycle if you have one.

Try a different detergent such as the electrosol tablets. Also might add vinegar to an empty cycle to clean dishwasher, or with dishes.

Sounds like you have motor pump problem and may need to be replaced.  The parts are covered for 2 years but you'll have to pay for the labor.  Call a qualified LG technician for service on your dishwasher.  You can find them on the LG website.

KUDS01FKSS dishwasher not cleaning

One thing to check is soap usage. Newer dishwashers use less water and require less soap. Too much soap will redeposit on dishes. Try halving soap usage. Also run hot water in sink until it gets hot before running dishwasher. I have a Whirlpool. Same thing. Works great. If your water is hard add more detergent.
