Do you mean that you want to save the letter as a PDF file? That is the default file type of Adobe Acrobat. Did you install the Smart Thru software? You should double-click the icon for the program and then select Scan to File. Set the file type to PDF when you save the scan. Alternatively, add Adobe application into Printer Setting Utilities. Make the Adobe application the default.
Third party software is available to do this as well if you do not want to use the Smart Thru software. Paperport is the software that I use most.
for scanning you can use every program that supports scanning (irfanview is freeware, ABBY finereader and many others). You can try new version of smarthru (for samsung SCX 4300).

The scx-4300 doesn`t have a scan button.You the inly way to scan with 4300 is by the software wich is installed with the drivers.When you turn you printer on look inside "My Coputer" and you willl see the icon for scanning there.Or just open the samsung icon on your desktop wich appears when you install the scx-4300.If you have futher questions please replay!
