Question about Alpine SWR-1241D Car Subwoofer

1 Answer

I have a 1241d sub and am pushing it with a MRD-M300. The amp will play for a while and then just shuts off. Power light goes off. Could have a bad sub, How can I check it or do you have any suggestions. There is not a heat issue and I get no error codes on the amp.

Tried routing ground to new area. Amp will still not power up. Metered and everything checks out. Good ground and the amp is getting power, remote wire is getting power. This system has been installed for about 6 years.

It sounds like your ground is just disconnecting check to make sure that the wire is not rusted or broken in places also make sure that your ground wire is secure and not rattling around. if your sub or amp was broken or had a bad fuse it would not turn on. just try that i am almost positive.

Make sure your safety mode is off. Go to mode 9 and ENT and make sure it is off. If it still dont work you proabably have bad RCA wre or speaker wire. Hope this helps!

When I hook my JL W7 sub to my alpine mrd m1005 amp the sub is pushed out and stays that way

Hello christensen7,

It sounds like there's DC current on the amp output terminals. Disconnect the sub and test the output with a multimeter. If there's DC there, most likely the amp is shorted internally and needs repair.

Hope this helps.

You need to have the amp bench tested at a car audio shop. Sounds like a dead short in the amp. Try turning the crossover on the sub "off" and connect any other speaker to it. if you have the same outcome, your amp needs serviced. Post a comment with your results and if I can think of anything else you could try beyond that I will. Hope this helps

I need a manual for my amp any ideas on how i can get moore base out of my alpine?

More power. get a 0 gauge power wire that will help. also try a gel cell battery as opposed to a liquid one. other than that if you really want more punch try buying a bigger amp. Or maybe the issue is not your amp at all it could be the subs you are running and the type of box. Not all boxes are intended for all applications.

Amp powers on, no sound from subs

the output is blown. It is in need of service.
There are many different ways that an amp can fail but the two most common failures are shorted output transistors and blown power supply transistors (< those are not blown). There are several types of protection circuits in amplifiers. The most common are over-current and thermal. The over-current protection is supposed to protect the output transistors. Sometimes it doesn't work well enough to prevent the failure of the output transistors but it will work well enough to shut the supply down before the power supply FETs are destroyed. If the amp remains in protect mode, goes into protect mode or blows the fuse as soon as the remote voltage is applied, shorted output transistors are almost certainly the cause.

Lights on, nobody home

Appears to be an issue with current. Is the speaker the correct impedance for the amplifier ? Have you confirmed there are no short circuits in the wiring ? I'm not familiar with this particular product,

The alpine catalogue gives recommended amp/speaker combos. If you don't have an aplpine sub, then look at the specs and find a similar one. You may be trying to load the amp too heavily and it will protect itself.

Led read out

E-3 The amplifier has been shut- down due to excessive current. Find and eliminate the cause of the excessive current, then turn the power off then back on from the remote control unit.
